FIFA 12 (video game)

Customer Review

I have long wondered back and forth if I should ever give a chance a portable FIFA again. Since my 3DS but so far ekes out a rather Schattendarsein and PES 2011 3D also could not completely convince, I thought to give this game a chance again. Much - except a few pictures and phrases of developers "the best football game on a handheld, which was EA ever done or ever developed" did not exist, too.

Well, delivered on time to the release, the offense should not be long in coming. It already falls on the menus that EA has dealt intensively with the 3D effect. Animated player, three-dimensional effects and logos run through the menu design - this makes everything a very tidy clean impression and has no effect so bruised, Wei at Konami kicker.

Scope and licenses: (5/5)
-------------------------------------------------- ------
FIFA 12 offers everything that is expected. From the Bundesliga over the Serie A right through to Danish league is almost everything is what the big names - but also unterklassige teams are of course one of the party. In addition to tournaments and leagues there are also friendly matches to be completed or just lay on the training pitch corresponding labs. But These primarily the Be-a-Pro mode and career mode.

-> Be-a-Pro mode: you create your own professional (the option for reele Stars must be unlocked) and tried this successfully as possible to establish in a club or national team. Here you have only the control of the individual professional. This is probably as far as known. What is new is that it starts on the road. Much like on the Wii, you can here in 1vs1 to 5vs5 matches your skills in a kind of "hall mode" show. [Probably one of the few parts of the FIFA series, the offer at all tournaments in the hall]. As a professional road the meteoric career can be in any case slowly lead in the Bundesliga or less lucrative league. Statistics and graphics show this to your development. An overall very motivating mode in which, however, more player feedback would be desirable.

-> Career Mode: The Prunktstück is like getting the career mode, the other parts also scolds Manager mode. You have full control of the club, makes transfers in the transfer periods, pays attention to the development of your players and tried on the success in the league to reach a place in European competitions. Because Konami known exploits the licenses of exclusive UEFA, the tournaments have extremely creative / fictional names (Euro League / Champions Cup) and come without the fancy packaging therefore. But technically speaking, this changes nothing. Here there is the whole range of menus and stats that is needed as an analyst or Datenfetischist. The only drawback that results from other leagues and tournament groups are not visible. Unlike the console, it is possible in this release, including training tools, stadium expansions and so to invest its finances. This makes it possible to build the club long term. Yes, and if the interest in this is lost or the conditions of the club floor were not met, then just changed. That is also possible.

About the StreetPass function can also be played drahltlos. But honestly - I do not know anybody who otherwise has a 3DS, the possibly still would play FIFA 12 or have never met someone by accident. So to neglect! For online duels probably the hardware does not seem to be sufficient, at least it seems so.

A brief word about the licenses. Buyers who do not directly activate at game start-Fi will be shocked. For most clubs appear with bare, plain jerseys. However, there is already an update, which downloaded all the kits on your small memory card. Yes, and viola - all the jerseys correspond to the original state, as one is used also by the major console brethren.
In addition, there are a number of stages which differ in the selection of the console versions. There are less generic stadiums, fewer European arenas. But there are still a large enough selection stages (and, of course, halls and street courses), among which especially many German stadiums are (Signal-Iduna-Park, Imtech Arena, Mercedes-Benz-Arena, etc.).

Graphics / animations etc .: (3/5)
-------------------------------------------------- ------
In the game FIFA 12 makes no especially good impression. Sure, it uses the 3D effect is very exquisite, the spatial depth is well exploited in each camera-perspective and to use much better than in PES 2011 3D. But visually I clearly expected more for the "best portable FIFA of all time". The stages are very rigid, the box looks a bit weichgespühlt, the players are mainly from a distance of plenty of pixelated. So from the typical foresight or telephoto perspective matters the PSP version, in my view does not zoom. The colors could be considerably richer. The more I see the playing field, the lonelier I feel. For many dynamic or Be-a-Pro-view the game looks much better because the models could persuade players here and appear much sharper. Here, then, of course, worth the 3D effect, which enhances the game graphically and can appear sharper. That of course is particularly noticeable in the Street mode, which is available only from the close-up views.

The animations are similar to those that we know from the PlayStation2 rail or the old PC parts. These are deemed to be even good to look and act less rigid than in PES 2011 3D is the case.

Overall, I do not know if it is up to the hardware or to the game itself. Anyone who knows the game on the PSP or maybe "only" the iPhone, which is used to a much prettier game that runs much smoother as well. That the faces are only partially recognizable, jerseys look a little fuzzy and everything looks a bit pale, this is not the worst.

Sound: (3/5)
-------------------------------------------------- ------
I do not know how much space is needed this game, how much space has this card Ridge. But handheld typically the soundtrack of FIFA is severely curtailed. While always 20-30 Tracks are pressed on the DVD / BluRay on the big consoles, can be found on the 3DS only 3-4 tracks. However, these are well chosen. Unfortunately, your songs can not be selected. Slightly annoying, however, the stadium atmosphere. Partly, especially when the goal area scenes can feel an enormous Präzenz and shortly afterwards one feels in a ghost game set back and listen to the fans tremendously softly in the background. Since it does little to move any controller - there already would have her an update. These spirits games but commented in the usual FIFA Quality, albeit the old FIFA duo. This is for 3DS ratios but perfectly adequate. Positive fall the sound effects and player shouts on in the respective national languages. Of these, especially in the Street mode some heard when the German player his goalkeeper shouts "As a German oak". What is missing, in order to satisfy me, 2-3 tracks more or to choose their own songs as well as an adaptation of Fangeräusche, ie permanent increase in volume would be (that real chants do not fit on the small map, I do not still bewussst).

Playability: (3/5)
-------------------------------------------------- ------
Playful FIFA 12 on the 3DS unfortunately very getting used to matter. A simulation was knitted from the formerly heavy arcade gameplay. The players look very small on the court - probably in order to in the near perspective has plenty of space to rule and shifting. But from the vision the game is extremely slow and tough. The Sprint option is hardly noticeable and often breathes in unwanted advances from, for many short passes is not precise enough and the control for a decent gameplay paths are too long. Comfort functions, such as automatic means of a second defender does not always work, because the players are too far away. The new shot system is one of these gadgets which EA has tried to PS2 times often enough. A nice idea, but not very intuitive to preserve the look of the bottom touch screen in front of the narrow area. Goes even further normal Luckily.

Otherwise, we have thought of most. Repetitions, form-fitting duels and appropriate Fouls including flying around player advantage rule etc. So it is in this respect can not be compared with FIFA 11 DS, but is inspired by a challenging game. The goal area scenes are very varied, as the ball can be deflected to all parts of the body, clarify players on the line and get the shots very tired. What FIFA 12 is missing is precisely the middle that which can not be bridged quickly enough.

Slightly better playing the Street mode, where everything is very close and also sending you the bands for a very fast-paced and fun game play make. Comparatively missing here, of course, the many tricks to be like a thoroughbred FIFA Street. But one can at best FIFA98 mentality kick in the hall to have to learn by heart without any skill moves.

Overall impression: (3/5)
-------------------------------------------------- ------
I believe that EA's ambitious intentions are not entirely successful. To take the Wii way I think is reasonable. The many tournaments make the game very extensive and the career mode as well as the enhanced Be A Pro mode can theoretically provide weeks of fun. The brand new squad and jerseys I think it's great. The implementation of street football suits me very. But I will not shake the feeling that something is wrong. You either my current 3DS technically too weak or this offshoot was not well-produced. FIFA 12 looks mediocre at best from, also can not really at PES 2011 3DS zoom, takes place this very slow and terrifying acts slowly, especially in the repetition. And since I have to say personally, FIFA 11 on the PSP made a clear clean impression.

Anyone who has the opportunity should play sample once. Maybe you says to the slower gameplay. For a football game after all, the 3D effect can convince very well. Personally, I'm going to start a few attempts before I put it aside. Current impression - satisfactory without satisfaction.
