Final review

After I had the PowerShot 220 HS tested and sent back, I wanted to give Canon a chance and have decided on the Ixus 230 HS.
Here is my first impression, first, extensively test come later, have the camera so only for a few hours.
The camera is very small and convenient, "always there" to have an ideal camera for the holidays and for.
The build quality is good, a decent aluminum housing. Even with the battery it is nice and light.
The display is fortunately not in the 16: 9 format is so filled that consider when taking pictures and screen completely.
The quality of the display is also very good, nice sharp display.
Most functions can be accessed somewhat more complicated, but are pleasant few buttons on the camera.
The Blitz is back to the camera and not to reveal how stupidly at the PowerShot above.
After switching on the camera is very quick to shoot an image, and the next screen goes very quickly, much faster than the PS!
The first images that I have made, appear sharper and less noisy than the PS, which may be in a different optics, but it has only an 8 x zoom, which I personally find quite sufficient.
The video recording looks very good, I personally just think Full HD not need, I see little difference to 720p, what I have now set as the default before.
If I do not find anything serious, I'll keep ours.
Follow detailed further tests, then I will continue to report.
Currently I have 4 stars awarded, so I air up and down!

Addendum: I have tested the camera in depth now and stay at the 4 stars.

Slight noise when you press the zoom while filming
In closed dark rooms automatic not as good, better put here to ISO200 and flash
Battery life is just OK second battery is recommended.
When shooting movies at 1080p, there is slight jerkiness during horizontal panning, recommendation accept 720p mode, ranging from the quality of perfect, and there is a "PHOTO" aperta which can be used a bit movies.

Despite the small flaws I'm very happy with the camera and will test soon in the holiday in detail further and then upload a few pictures here.
They did not deserve, in my view, because of the small flaws that I have listed the 5 star.

For those who are looking for a very handy little camera that one always accompanied, I can really recommend.

We had the camera on vacation where it has been used abundantly. In about 95% of the images are good to very good!
For a compact camera in my opinion a very good value.
Sometimes she has but after turning the problem that the image does not focus, when I use the shutter button antippe it's good, I do not know if this is a mistake of the camera, or a weakness, it came in 8 days 3-4 time ago.
If very little light is, it creates the autofocus when filming does not always make everything really sharp, but I think also normal.
