I have long searched for a good solution without running wires to bring my router connection / Internet in the basement and the attic apartment for the daughter. With repeaters such as the Fritz 310 it worked unfortunately more bad than good. Moderate connection and repeatedly crashes. Then I tried the new part 540E of Fritz and I'm thrilled! The connection to my router Telekom via a short power cord connected to the Powerline Adapter 500E. Then at the "other end" of the house in the outlet plugged the new Powerline Adapter 540E, pressed buttons on both devices and you're done! Everything worked perfectly. The 540E is building its own Wi-Fi network regardless of the router on its own network name and its own access password, it has already set up the WPA2 encryption ex works, access password is set to the rear of the 540E. The connection to other devices work also easy thanks to WPS. More I do not really need, full reception even on TV from Siemens works now perfectly with max cathedrals and other Internet apps. My notebook immediately found the net and has a great connection. You can still adjust a few things, such as the wireless LAN function for each day scheduled from or enable in the 540E menu. This way you can disable the WLAN or at night when you're at work during the day and switch off the pre-programmed part. This saves electricity. Access can also be limited by manually entering the MAC addresses or the right devices to log in once and can block access for unknown devices more generally after that. A safe bet in my opinion. There are even more settings, I have this but not used. (Eg switch off the LED display). The timing of the WLAN also works in any case, 100%!
Conclusion: Set up foolproof, quick and secure WLAN in the far corner! Also works with other routers, so no need to Fritz! Box.
