Initially announced for already last year, it is finally here: The (almost) Ultimate Collection of Mechanics. CD1 includes the whole already from the previous Best Of (if you count the Swedish) known indispensable titles, supplemented by the two singles (hits were there no more ...) the last disc with a new cast. There is also with "When My Feet Do not Touch The Ground" a new song but yet let me down, because it is quite boring and then ripples without the typical Mechanics Trade Marks. Watch out: "All I Need Is A Miracle" is the 1996, version / new recording. The album "Rewired" is not represented here, but more on that later. Basically, you have the - draufgemacht album versions of the singles - usually longer; actually the single versions / remixes might have been better, as these now not really have any long and album versions are not necessary everywhere ("Now That You've Gone"). Zusäztlich one could include for example, as an abridged version better functioning Single "One Left Standing" with. But that's just a matter of taste. CD2 then has finally (if they have not already bought up individually like me) many rare B-sides in the form of live recordings and studio tracks. Here can be, how could it be otherwise, worthy of debate what is superfluous and what would be better still it belongs. For me, the Maxi version of Word Of Mouth is (incidentally shortened seems like so many processed Song) dispensable, because on the one hand it's bad (I think) and secondly nachgeschmissen you get the Maxi for euros. My favorite side is the ballad "I Think I've Got The Message". A song by the melody and the haunting vocals of mad Youngie so under the skin goes .... for me, and I mean that seriously, one of the absolute best songs of M + M, and with me in the Top 5 of this band! Amazing is generally the quality of these B-sides, who mostly do not deserve this designation. There is a lack - and by that I mean, it would have been a better choice - for example, the "Beggar" acoustic version, the live TV appearance "Ain`t It Peculiar" or the original 1985 Maxi version of "All I Need Is A Miracle ". Is kind of funny that on the rarities disc "Perfect Child" finally has a (promotional) A page from the ever unpopular album "Rewired" landed in 2003, but this appendage simply came not on CD 1 .. ..Höhepunkt for the fans is of course the unreleased track "One By One" with Paul Young on vocals (Carrack Background). A groovy soulful uptempo pop song, which reminds a bit of the stuff on the Paul Young's Chronicles; may Rutherford has this song deliberately withheld the Chronicles project as Deal and completed for this publication. "Neat" is my personal review here. Oh, I love Mechanicsburg, they keep me a part of my youth. The live concerts in a new line are the way any (!!!) worth trip - also in 2014 again !!!!
