First episode of breathtaking trilogy

James Ellroy we discover here the first part of the trilogy dedicated to Sergeant Lloyd Hopkins, complex character who "fights for the good", often with methods a bit borderline, if not downright outlawed.
What is significant in this writer, besides the constant suspense lies in the fact that nothing is all white or all black, either side of the "good or bad". over the motivations of different actors are detailed and explained via their personal stories and their flaws resulting ..
In short, a must-read novel if you are followers of such literature. From my side I'll throw myself on the result of this saga and other writings of this author.
