Caveat: high were the expectations, the work was yet to Alter Bridge (Tremonti would probably describe themselves as his true home AB) to measure.
Now, this comparison holds not stand. Not at all. So my initial assessment.
Because:
* The songs beads not as smooth as one would be expect from AB. Yes, it's true: Tremonti is the main songwriter in AB. Only: The grandiose "Blackbird", undisputed one of the best albums of all time, is a flawless collaboration with Myles Kennedy, the talented vocalist and co-guitarist. In the case of AB can be heard this about you to the Chorus voices: "Buried Alive", "Brand New Start", "All Hope Is Gone" as would be inconceivable without Kennedy.
In contrast, the songs sound on this disc partly rather by (weak) Bonus tracks from AB such as "Save Me" - A look at the respective chorus. There are exceptions, such as the consistently compelling "Decay"; Overall, however, everything looks a little to the 2nd choice (which could, of course, the basic direction of the vagina to be owed, this Believe I come but significantly harder therefore not even about "isolation" is rock hard -.. and grooves better by a mile).
A word about this: the mandatory contribution from Kennedy can moor about also to "Slash's Conspirators" anno 2012: Slash, Maestro of riffs and sensitive leads, familiar here Kennedy the melodies, so gems out of this world as "No More Heroes "" We Will Roam "and" Bad Rain "can arise.
* Of course, the guitar parts of Tremonti insanity. Pearls before swine - short, choppy, single-noted riffs. Also, and above all an excellent drummer!
But that raises the total disk but not AB level.
* The voice of Tremonti is getting used to - and a matter of taste. A Myles Kennedy or Scott Stapp is - and should! - One in any case not expected. In any case, despite clear outliers upwards - warned "Wish You Well" at Metallica (as a whole his body in the best moments of James Hetfield), "Brains" to Alice In Chains - rather poor. Zakk Wylde guitar god with his Black Label Society, proposes a drunken moose in terms of presence and recognition Tremonti by far.
* Highlights: title track single "You Waste Your Time", said "Brains", "Decay" !. The rest: somewhat weaker.
Overall: not quite AB level.
If mans looks as "pure" solo guitarist expression (like Bruce Kulicks "BK3"), then: Yes !; However, you should use as a benchmark Creed and Alter Bridge in particular, it gets tight.
Conclusion: AB as scale makes it difficult. Creed less. Everything of course subjective, but I'd say good try, 4 von 5.
Therefore: Compulsory for Tremonti fans, AB disciples: Beware, harder, more cynical; Rock fans: Give it a try!
