PACKING
The remote control comes wertig packaged in a relatively large carton. Because it's fun to unpack the new technology toys. Inside you can find the actual remote control, one charging cradle incl. Cable, a USB cable for programming and operating in all possible languages. All neatly packaged and sour.
PROGRAMMING / BEDNIENUNG
Unlike older models no special software is no longer required. Now, a website must be called and a browser plugin installed. This makes the next steps easier in my opinion. Owners of older Harmony can simply import the settings. In my case, the remote control was 90% complete within 2 minutes.
If you've never owned a Logitech Harmony: It's just awesome. With the help of assistants can be relatively quickly carry out the basic programming. However, your muscles plays the remote control until you look a little concerned with the software and the remote control. Each button can be assigned as desired and so the Harmony is still in operation as a unified whole. An example of this might clarified: When I use TVs TV (of course), a Sky satellite receiver and an AV system. Now if I Prog +/- press but on the Sky receiver, Vol +/- the AV system. I do not switch on the remote control device
The core element of Harmony are the activities. When I come home at night and all devices are turned enough pressure to "TV" (or would like to call it) and it will automatically be the TV, the satellite receiver and the AV system is turned on and switched to the correct inputs. Everything simple with a (!) Pressure. And when I'm tired and the off button actuates all devices are turned off. Again with a simple pressure. This makes the entire operation of the home electronics very pleasant.
In addition, the database containing the equipment is extensive. Even a favorable Comag satellite receiver, which I bought at the hardware store at that time was found in the database and was working fine. And should even a button can not be right to teach the Harmony by IR receiver new commands.
TOUCH SCREEN
I always liked the numeric keypad on my old remote control. If I wanted to switch to a specific channel or was looking for a specific channel in the EPG, simply press the numbers and you're done. That's why I was initially skeptical that a touch screen is an added value. First of all, the screen delivers a decent result. It dissolves quite high and is sufficiently light Stark. Whether by day or night, the display is easy to read. On touching it responds somewhat slower than I am used to from iOS devices, but still good.
My personal added value compared to my old model is the ability to bring each station with logo on the screen. Perhaps it is also another way: my better half tells me I should switch to RTL II and I ask at what point is the transmitter for. That's over now. Although you have to do it manually because the remote does not know how the TV or receiver is programmed and you have to manually change to the Harmony when it changes on the devices, but for me it brings more comfort.
Somewhat cumbersome navigation is anyway. On the screen, I now have 4 pages: one for the activities (watching TV, playing games, listening music, ...), a with the channel logo, a self-entered with commands and with the numeric keypad. Most of all I then use the side with the station logo, but now and then I need but then the numeric keypad and must wipe through the pages. However, this does not bother me further.
CONCLUSION
Personally, I find the Harmony Touch is a consistent further development compared to my previous model. The operation is slightly out of hand and the touch screen makes despite initial skepticism fun. I hope my recession can one or the other to serve as a purchasing decision where I describe it because of the complexity of the product and its possibilities find it difficult. I for one do not regret buying!
