The provided information is really sparse. Especially the accompanying CD is a joke! They could only be view on any Mac also (heavy read errors!) But would have to find what it would not have helped me. The internet only contradictory information allegedly ... 64bit systems are not supported at all (my MacBook is from 2006 and therefore new !!) and only MacOS10.5 (which is no longer sold for 2 years). On the German side LEGO various patches, but all do not work you will find nonexistent support in LEGO USA. I was really on the verge of throwing in a few hours the junk against the wall until I called the phone support. Despite Frankfurter number you will be put through directly to the United States (and should be able English). The woman knew immediately what the problem is and has sent me a few seconds later an e-mail with a Dropbox link. After downloading the complete installation (400MB) ran just fine (although even here the ReadMe's is based on false systems and versions back).
Why LEGO is unable to resolve right software, or according to link: Great puzzles! The support, however, is quickly and competently.
Mindstorms itself is super. But nothing for small and medium-sized children. The models are also available for adults sometimes difficult to build (eg, if one is to connect two modules and a dozen hake Direction connector to fumble in the matching holes at the same time without affecting other parts fall off again). Then you have to program before doing anything at those things first. Quick wins should not be expected! The control acts rather frumpy - clunky and slow like a Gameboy from the 80s, the engines may have somewhat misshapen. But nevertheless it's great fun and actually works fine. Only it is unfortunately quite expensive.
