My wife photographed in my opinion, quite good, which is why it was important to me that the camera has functions of a SLR camera and also offers a RAW format. Unlike some pixel fanatics and for the normal exhibit fairly small chips in the komakten cameras, I wanted to find something 10-12 megapixels (which is completely sufficient). Priced were 400 +/- 30 Euro Euro the desired price range.
The Coolpix p7800 fits comfortably in your hand and has a sufficient number of knobs and buttons that make operation after some time of getting used quite simple.
What I have issued immediately is the option of displaying images immediately after triggering the display or the electronic viewfinder, as this way is just too slow when you fotgrafiert in RAW format. In manual mode, the P7800 offers the possibility of using the electronic viewfinder and the display shows the recording display as they also ensteht with the selected setting. This information plus the histogram, which can be seen in the display and the viewfinder, make "chimping" unnecessary so that a view of the pictures is sufficient, following the recording.
The automatic programs (including foolproof Full Auto) to work safely and satisfactorily. In difficult lighting conditions you can see the exposure quite easily on the rotary knobs in 1/3 increments change (this shows the histogram again as helpful). Or one makes a bracketing to make the multiple images (here however is the P7800, that it is not a SLR and takes a little longer to the three shots to shoot).
In the image quality I'm satisfied must hold that the comfort zone this camera ufhört at ISO 800. A bad image rather than garkeines: From ISO 800 then the reporter saying applies. A camera which copes with the manufacturer ISO 3200 should to ISO 1600 still have no problems in my opinion. However, I prefer this from nothing, because I would not expect the benefits of D700 in a compact (as I said, the Church even let the village). It really is not so that images from ISO 800 are unusable.
Where I depart for the point is the menu navigation on the display (man, what I have searched in between). But is also ere matter of habit.
The electronic spirit level, I find a nice feature - you do not necessarily need, but when it is time to be a panorama, so one does not need more accessories.
All in all I got what I was looking for. So four stars with a clear conscience.
