Of course, "From Fear To Eternity" is absolutely dispensable for Maiden fans, the songs you finally have on the various studio and live albums. I'm going to this compilation does not specify in any case ... if there are now one or the other fan, the CD exclusively from collectors urge or because the cover buys and is then disappointed not to get a new: I'm sorry, but no one would probably buy the cover is indeed pretty, but the contents already known a book ... I hope so.
Of course you can but see the compilation of the songs themselves critically. Ok, Maiden had had in the last two decades 23 Top Ten hits, then the choice would be easier fallen; but many a song could not really hear it. "Different World" is one that has been mentioned so many times. Personally, I can not begin really much with the last two albums with Bruce before the temporary separation (No Prayer For The Dying, Fear Of The Dark 1990/1992). Aside from the title track of the latter (ok, which is of course divine!) And perhaps more "Afraid To Shoot Strangers" is mediocre for me the rest. I have no problems with it personally, to hear the songs from the Blaze era in the live version with Bruce, for me it is simply the Maiden-voice and a few live versions should already be heard on any best-of.
However, I would have there times a few really new live versions (or at best as bootlegs in circulation desired), the last tours were excellent and finally just the songs from the last studio albums have the live versions not harmed - the here existing, had all been released on live albums: Too bad missed opportunity.
All in all just a very successful compilation of songs from the last album, of course, purely subjective selected from ... whomever, my compilation of these years would look somewhat different, wherein the backbone of the song selection is already correct.
Allen, who resent this compilation, was told: Be glad that Maiden as one of the few bands of their rank still publish in regelmäigen intervals good studio albums (Yes, I also like "The Final Frontier"), by whom one can already say otherwise?!? The money for "From Fear To Eternity" yes you can save for the next proper album or even better for a concert card (Hamburg at 2:06. Was cool)! :-)
