I have tested with 2 different iPad Air 2. The units each have registered that the cable is plugged in - on top of the charge indicator stood but every "not charging". This test was carried out in each case with the original power supply unit as well as an alternate, also quality, charging adapter. So for this purpose I can only say: hands off!
