When unpacking, I noted that there was only the scanner, a USB cable and an installation CD in the box. Visually see the Canon although stylish, but the cheap, deflectable plastic lid bothered my first impression!
A power supply does not and you do not need, because the scanner is powered via USB cable. When installing on Windows XP or Windows 7 proved mega easy. Plugging, driver recognized - done!
Important: Before you make your first scan, you should solve the transport lock on the rear panel. Scanning is also very simple. When starting the software, there are 3 modes. Basic and an advanced mode plus auto-scan mode, which can be controlled with 4 mounted on the front panel buttons. The keys sit scanned attachments to e-mails, make a copy or convert the same into a PDF document.
I make my scans in advanced mode, where there is also more Picture controls. Mostly I scan at 300 dpi, which I fully sufficient.
For best results, I recommend the following settings:
Image Adjustment: Automatic
Sharpen: Off
Descreen: A
Dust & Scratches reduce: Without
Color correction: Without
Image Smoothing: Without
The scans are sharp and also act not pixelated. In addition, the scanning process is very fast with this setting. All in all comfort the image quality that spits out the device, via small defects in workmanship away. Amazing what you can get for just about 60. For people who occasionally scan what, there's nothing better. For the same price I have found nothing like it better so I can issue a very strong buy recommendation!
