+ Graphics are about on par with the PS3, XBOX360. With a little time you will probably be able get even a little more.
+ Best console for local multiplayer fun. Whether party game or a Jump n 'Run with friends through play, here the Wii U is unbeatable, in part due to the gamepad
+ There are now more than enough great games that you simply must have if you own this console (see below)
+ Many smaller games conceived by indie developers is also available from other suppliers via the Nintendo eShop.
+ Old Controller (Wii Remotes) can be used.
+ Wii games can be played (backwards compatible)
- So far, too few Virtual Console titles (only NES / SNES) ... Nachlieferungsbedarf
And now the text:
The Wii U, I got myself on the release day (november 2012) and was not disappointed. The release games (Nintendo Land, Super Mario Bros U, ZombiU, Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed) have the first few weeks more than filled.
The gamepad is a great controller. For local multiplayer experiences he could me and everyone involved in Nintendo Land delight, because such asymmetric gaming experiences are simply not possible otherwise. Example: For Nintendo Land, there is a game in which players have to find 4 on the television an invisible spirit, the 5th player plays on the gamepad the spirit and the player has to frighten.
For single player games the gamepad is also a nice addition, but not quite as stunning.
Where Nintendo still needs replacement delivery are Virtual Console games. So far there is only NES / SNES classic. With the Wii you could also buy games from the C64, N64, Sega consoles, etc. ...
Meanwhile (november 2013) have also come a lot of good games for the Wii U on the market. The first six months after the release was indeed a very sad time for the Wii-U.
Games I absolutely recommend for the Wii U:
Nintendo Land (1-5 players)
Wii U Party (party game with 2-4 players extremely entertaining, very varied)
Rayman Legends (in co-op multiplayer a dream. Great level design, great soundtrack, great integration of the gamepad!)
Pikmin 3 (strategy game, also for two very funny)
The Wind Waker (a beautiful Gamecube remake, but single player only)
Super Mario Bros U (in multiplayer very funny, at least 4 players very confusing)
Starting next week, probably also the new Super Mario 3D World
There are other games that I really liked, but I will not list them all now.
