The scenery is beautifully transcribed, sometimes so detailed that it becomes difficult to follow the author in his frantic hunt for kudus. The author's encounters are magical, the one with the Maasai being particularly memorable.
The only gripe that can be held in the repetition of the action throughout the book: Food, track (much), hunting, scold guides. Despite this, even non-hunters (like me) will find that happiness in this book.
