1. Connection via WiFi: The printer is relatively far away for me due to space constraints in both the computer and the router.
2. Small size: The printer is really small. I especially like that it fits of width exactly (!) In a EXPEDIT shelving from IKEA. On each side are max. 2-3mm space. According to the manual, although 10 cm space should be left on the sides of the printer. I think, however, with occasional pressure is not critical. Also, I've noticed that the waste heat is usually at the back. However, I must say that the ventilation slots are on the sides of the printer to find.
Installing the printer was done quickly and without problems, contrary to expectations. I put the printer in a combination with a Mac operating system. Contrary to other reviews is the printer with a USB cable. This is not required for the device, if you use an appropriate wireless router with WPS. The Printer Setup took place with me on Mac OS X 10.8 as follows:
- Place the printer, with electricity, turn on
- Press the WPS button on the printer
- The WPS button on the router press (at me a Netgear WNDR-3700)
- Wait briefly, the printer will automatically connect to the router
- After the connection is manufactured, a network configuration page automatically prints that lists all of the data (IP address, network name, etc.)
- For Mac OS X System Preferences then Print & Scan on the + icon to add the printer. He is already recognized as a printer nearby.
- The driver will be downloaded from Apple via the Internet connection.
- Ready! :-)
The printed pages have no streaks with me. The printed image is impeccable. The toner-saving mode I have not activated.
The supplied CD (on the Mac drivers are included) and the USB cable are not needed if the existing router is WPS-enabled.
All in all, I am therefore very pleased and I wait now that the toner is now and will soon be empty. ;-)
Update as of 02.03.2013: I'm still happy with the printer. I use it only occasionally for individual pages. One can the printer safely in Eco Standby Mode setting, so that it is constantly available without turning. The "On" button will light but permanent very light blue. The power consumption in this state is about 0.4 watts.
