For me the best decision!

One Caveat: I am not a professional or otherwise experienced SLR users, but only a passionate amateur photographer with no focal length and other technical jargon knowledge! I bought the Cam not even at Amazon, but with the great technology chain with the planet on it (the last red Nikon Coolpix P510 in Munich: -O)

I was looking for myself some time a camera that finally some may be more than these small commercial digicams, me but at the same time does not tear a hole in your wallet if you want to purchase any SLR including overpriced accessories or as I also can not do that ,

I have found in this Nikon model, what I was looking (for me in red because a black cam has almost everyone). And what can I say? It was very quickly my new favorite toy (in quiet moments I fummel home actually constantly on the thing around).

A little tip for new buyer: On delivery, the setting for the photos are not quite as really perfect and you have to refit a little in the preferences, but the photos are still consistently top.

Purchase decisive:
This was of course but in the end the extreme zoom power (yes I admit to) and with a little practice work beautiful zoom shots (inherently shaky hands are here less suitable).
However here is: Stay away from the additional digital zoom. It tempts really, to exhaust all until it stops, but you already need as more than just steady hands to get a clear picture. Especially, if you do it freehand and the Cam is not on a tripod ...
In the customer photos I have 3 images adjusted (2 of them with full zoom power)!

Settings:
There are very very very ... very many individual settings (and it takes a little longer to completely muddle through the menu), but also already been preset programs work great and can be a little adapt.
Whether 3D photos, panoramic images, HDR shots (the modes is a bit hidden in the backlight setting), animal photography, filter effects of various kinds, and also the possibility of taken pictures have to be processed before a little right in the action enough for me and in total made my Nikon photos very often desired and enjoyed unanimous Ah's and Oh's acquaintances.

Files
The videos are very good quality and the sound is great. Unfortunately, the microphone is so sensitive that you can hear the zooming or pressing keys in the recording. But if you edited the videos on your PC, you can cut out the or otherwise play with music or sound, or just enjoy it talk.

Display:
The swiveling display is razor sharp. The one show and it can up and down swing is still an added plus and relaxed when shooting where the camera is not simply forward. It lacks the possibility of pivoting to the front (as in video cameras), so that one sees himself in recordings (video or pictures with self-timer). One can only guess as to whether you are actually in the picture! But is quite important for me personally!

In addition, I bought a spare battery and an external charger, because it so it's just quicker to charge the battery and you also go even make enough juice for photos.

Handling:
It is not too heavy, fits comfortably in your hand. For me also the plastic casing does not work too cheap. On the contrary, I think it's very classy. The buttons are easy to operate and the handle on the side is also my - slightly stronger fingers - good grip!

Where there is light, there's a little bit of shadow:
1. Macro mode: wants me simply not work so well. Photos are already übelst spongy. Have read that it is with other P510-users so. But I think I have the hang Just not quite out.
2. Battery indicator: full yet, then suddenly go out the lights: -O There is still urgently needed improvement, because it verhagelt totally confused and the most beautiful motif when suddenly run out of Cam and the subject simply as "davonhoppelt ";-)

Conclusion:
For me personally, the Cam was the best decision and I do not regret it. For "small" money taking pictures like the "Big" (or at least to come as close as possible), the chance of you with this great Nikon :-)
