+ (Almost) silent operation, thus not disturbing the living room. The fan starts only at high disk temperatures
+ Simple integration into the home network and easy installation with Omninas finder and intuitive interface for their browser
+ Has exactly the functions required by a home user, in particular:
Twonkey- and iTunesMedienserver, DLNA, backup function and USB 3.0
Data storage with integration into Windows as Netwzwerklaufwerk the OmninasFinder
+ SmartTV judder, even in HD via DLAN
+ Low power consumption, especially in standby
+ Wake-On-LAN. This feature I find extremely useful. So I drive my NAS at 23.30 in the low-power standby and wake the next morning with booting the first PC back on. Although only not be irritated that lasts a moment, but I have been saving money :-). For example WOL Magic Packet can be used with matching command line parameters in the Startup.
+ Print server for transmitting the print jobs via LAN is not used by me.
the disadvantages are, in my view just to name
- The high disk temperatures which are reached during operation. Unfortunately, this is the price for virtually silent operation. As should be saved by no means the price of the hard drive, but a 24/7 Server disk are used, which can handle even permanently higher temperatures.
I have 2 * Western Digital 1TB WD10EFRX Red (WDC WD10EFRX-68PJCN0) in use. After the characteristics of the here my clear recommendation is the WD Red series.
- Would be desirable, that I one of the two USB 3.0 can be used as AutoCopy and the other as a backup connection and not either or. So that's a miserable Umswitcherei while the backup is running via USB and not on another NAS
I can not comment because I have been working exclusively with DLAN to prevent hacking attacks or unauthorized use of the WLAN via the WLAN functionality.
For home users of me a very strong buy recommendation :-)
