Free? Kaspersky? Or maybe Avira?

The first question that arises when an antivirus program for 50 Euro is: Why should I spend money at all? A whole series of competitors offering their programs but free of charge. That's right so far, but it is also true that Kaspersky not just bring an antivirus program, but also a Bank Data Manager, a password manager and, most important, a Live Protection for Internet applications. I get so not free.

In addition, Kaspersky also allows access to an online cloud ("virtual vault") and promises a very efficient work. Whether that justifies the price, of course, everyone must know yourself. I would like to open no keg and it therefore left only with the determination that I have already achieved a good level of protection with free programs. Which is also clear that the most cost-prone version just offers a higher protection.

II. Kaspersky Antivenprogramm vs. Other programs

This is my first Kaspersky program, before I used Antivir and Sophos. The decisive criterion for me here, if I notice work when the program or not. I go from the assumption that the performance of all antivirus programs is high about the same. Anyway, so far no program has a virus approved.

And here just falling on an eye with Antivir, Kaspersky but acts faster. The Live Protection uses fewer resources, so I hardly or not realize it (System: Windows 7, Q6600, 4GB Ram, Geforce 5770, 500GB HD, HD 1000GB, both Seagate). In Sophos in my opinion even a tick was better. I did not even notice.

The changes noticeably when do I get a system check. This not only takes about 6 hours (about 1000GB capacity, distributed on both disks), but the system creates almost completely paralyzed. Whether Internet or Windows applications: it does work properly only if I force the settings Kaspersky, vorzulassen other applications. That's a number larger than I would have expected. Despite my veralteteten computer.

Rooms I but other applications priority running Kaspersky quiet and hardly distracting in the background. And need but a bit longer. In addition, the program comes with the usual features. From the automatic update to the security points, everything is possible. The surface I like the way considerably better than at Sophos or Antivir. But this is rather minor and a matter of taste.

III. Kaspersky's Live Protection

The Live Protection proposes reliably, though perhaps too often (eg in a PDF to a club side). Safety is also included private firewall. I'm still not sure if the result goes to the 100% zoom, but my first impression is very positive. Using the settings you can adjust the protective good.

IV. Miscellaneous

Cloud and Parental Control I did not use. The Bank Data Security Manger not also. Like the other programs also meissten to Kaspersky incompatible with its competitors. Sophos and Kaspersky have tried from the start to fight each other and identified himself as a "malicious program". Unnecessary and hardly remediable.

V. synopsis

My first impression is positive. The protection seems to work and eats little power. The changes, unfortunately, when I perform a complete examination, but without completely falling out of the frame. To date Kasperksy seems advisable to me.
