This adapter is a "taking" a VGA signal (the blue socket) and turning it into an HDMI signal.
-
This is NOT an adapter converting an incoming signal HDMI (laptop / DVD reader-BR) into a VGA signal (for an old projector).
It is indeed an adapter converting a VGA input signal (from a computer / "old" drive) in an HDMI output signal (to a "modern" TV or projector).

This important clarification having been made, I want to say that this small adapter is quite satisfactory and convenient to use.
It comes with a USB cable (50 cm) for its power supply, it will plug into a USB port on your laptop (or drive) in question.
The audio input will also include the HDMI signal coming out the sound of the computer / drive.
Catches are strong enough and well hold the cables in place.
In operation, the adapter will heat a little bit (but nothing that requires intervention).
It is recommended to maintain the incoming son (USB powered, VGA video, her Jack) together with Velcro tape (or simply string), otherwise it quickly becomes a mess with all these cables.
