General to "ETS 2" and its add-ons

What I am writing here, should all buyers and the staff of "Rondo Media" as a publisher and
"Amazon" let go as partners times through the head.
Generally a review platform is not very suitable as a discussion forum.
If, however, because no other way, which is the case here, it is still and tolerate very reason.
Unlike most indoor reviewer I am IT specialist (Diploma computer scientist) in the specialized field of data security.
And I come from a generation that has been instrumental in the development of the technological base and is well and

But the first thing to my review:
"ETS 2" with its proprietary add-ons and extensions all started by the community in a fantastic work
is not just a game. It is, as one uses the appropriate hardware, a simulation of an astonishing degree of realism.
I dare to judge, because I have so casually and in between, formerly sometimes driven even heavy trucks.
Therefore, and for the playful implementation and delivery by "Amazon" I'd like to forgive all five stars.
But!
The way how special this addon is marketed, I can not find for good.
When I pre-ordered it a long time ago, nothing was stated about which of the two versions should be there.
I went, just like the main game and the AddOn "Going East" believes that it is a full version on CD and by
CD installable concerns.
What then was arrived at me (as with others) the "Steam" - variant.
Now, each (r) think about this platform, what they (he) wants. Also I have already made my earlier experience with it
(Z. B .: "Skyrim").
As experts of course are my resources and possibilities available to elicit the extent to which software during their service communicates with such a platform via Internet.
And this communication actually takes place to an extent, the doubts about the integrity of the operator raises with me.
For this I must generally say that I and I ONLY have to decide alone whether a paid software I receive any contacts with any Internet platforms or non-point and final.
It is true that the AddOn "Scandinavia" in the "Steam" - can install version - also on a "Non-Steam" variant.
For this purpose first need the "Steam" - Client installed, then an account (Who has not.) Created, then the main game and the
AddOn "Going East" and the new AddOn means done making the respective key in "Steam" are registered.
After that is actually the complete "Steam" - download version of the game with all the components, so that the shrewd
Users by selecting a suitable storage location does have the option of two games on his PC to variants
install. (Or who is very smart, then for each available patch its own version.)
That may be interresting for all who may wish to use community content that is not compatible with the add-ons or
Patches is.
(For most however, it is probably more or less nonsense, quite apart from the fact that the user will receive a mailing,
for which shipping is required, and then not used wird- harebrained, because the key in a mail would have done it.)
The fact remains however one thing:
This then fully in the "Steam" - converted variant game is no longer available in the offline mode.
What data there then with "Steam" exchanges while playing, remains hidden and can be viewed by the user neither
be controlled.
This is not only alarming, but reprehensible from the perspective of privacy and moves close to the limit of the
Illegal, if not already in it.
Added to this is that it is "Steam" an offshoot of the "Valve Corporation", of a US company, is that definitely does not feel bound to German or European law.

However, there are (still) the second variant of the game and the addon's, the pure offline version on normal DVD or CD.
These are then quite normal to istallieren and to activate by entering the key unique to the manufacturer server.
After that, no Internet connection is needed more. (Just as with operating systems and other software from "Microsoft".)
Only needs to be said very clearly on a distribution platform such as "Amazon" from the outset, to which flavor is.
Then, when the customer the wrong precisely because no matter how kind, but to be accepted as a result of, aversion to "Steam"
Variant arrives, trouble is inevitable.

My Conclusion:
- Delivery by "Amazon": five stars.
- Handling the product in the sales room (Publishing): zero stars.
- Quality of the AddOn "Scandinavia" in purely spilerischer ways after 15 hours test game: four stars.
- Privacy and options for the user to influence this: zero stars
- Quality of service by "Rondo Media" and "SCS" (I have tried to address the above issues and problems): zero stars
