This CD released in Brazil in 1999, I discovered by chance a fan of Philip Glass and Brazilian music. This discovery turned out to be true godsend. Uakti is a Brazilian percussion group music making at a high level with homemade instruments. In the over 25 years of existence, it has worked with many renowned Brazilian and international musicians. Exotic plucking, percussion instruments and Blass and other structures made of materials such as plastic pipes, metal and wood elicit Uakti rhythmic and at the same time partly amazingly soothing sounds. Who thought of this description to Stomp, but be warned, there is Uakti to settle in another area. After Philip Glass heard Uakti play, he was so impressed that he was looking for a collaboration and specifically for the group wrote pieces that you can now enjoy on this CD. The melodies are of course unmistakable "Glassig", but by the exotic sounds of Uakti gets his already quite well-known style of a new character and gives a lighter and more relaxed atmosphere. That recall some of the subjects strongly to his compositions of Naqoyqatsi soundtracks, doing beauty this music no harm. I have done it to particularly the livelier parts of the CD. The recording is very good. I particularly liked that the stereo panorama excellent front of the listener builds (assuming a good system or headphones): It is in the middle. The instruments act here close to be obtrusive without ever. Also recommended is the Uakti album "Mapa".
