Because a few days ago grabbed me with pleasure, again FreeSpace 2 and thus to rummage the joystick out, where I had to then determine disappointed that Windows 7 the gameport my soundcard (or Gameports general) so no longer supported. What it was impossible to put the good old Sidewinder back to active duty.
Instead of long to tinker I have therefore sought a favorable useful new joystick with a USB port. I would have been ForceFeedback liked, but that was then priced at the moment just is not there. The "Thrustmaster Flight Stick X" on the other hand seemed very interesting, thanks to the low price and the good reviews. So without further ado simply appointed times, can not be that wrong, I thought.
The joystick came two days later with me and had to survive almost immediately out of the box a number of battles. What he did with flying colors. With its four axes and 12 buttons it has everything you need. All axes and buttons respond very precisely, the resistance of the XY axes also can be freely (within certain limits) to readjust the screw at the bottom.
Grip and palm rest are comfortable enough to stay for a longer time in the cockpit. Thanks to the rather broad base and its fairly high weight of the joystick also pretty much did not, even then not wobble at "normal" use, if you have the second hand are not just based on.
The only thing that bothers a little, is the creaking of others already mentioned when moving the sticks. That I had already from the beginning. A little, it sounds as if the inner workings lubricated not good enough, unfortunately, to get nowhere because even moderately tuned to nachzuhelfen a little. But ultimately is not so bad that I would for now deduct an entire star (half a probably. But that is not so). The stick also acts otherwise processed solid and good.
Just a pity that Freespace 2 (after 10 years) was the last really good game of its kind. But in flight simulators it looks fortunately a bit better. So if a cheap but good looking Flight Stick for PC or PS3, which can actually access soothes here. My recommendation gets the T.Flight Stick X anyway.
