Good but better grip variation equal to 15 watts

The 12 Watt Ecobulb with E27 socket is supplied in a sturdy carton. At its widest point (which is not determined by the glass spiral, but through the exit opening of the spiral from the starter-base) has a diameter of 42 mm. It is 98 mm long. In its dimensions it is now shorter by 13 mm narrower and about 2 mm than a comparable 60W bulb.

The Ecobulb is start down to -15 degrees Celsius, so not for the wintery outdoor use in these latitudes, and it is (on / off) designed for a service life of 15,000 hours at 10,000 cycles. The former depends on the latter, and also the period of about 60 s, which is necessary before the 12 W Ecobulb reach full light output, makes it clear that energy-saving lamps are still not really suitable for very short switching intervals in bathroom and cellar. They are not dimmable and suitable for emergency power operation (reduced voltage).

I use the 12 W Ecobulb currently no problems in a floor lamp. In my previous energy-saving lamps long life I was already surprised in hours of continuous operation. The lamps save with their initial 5-fold efficiency 80% less energy than incandescent bulbs and keep in hours of operation for much longer, so that the higher purchase price is expected to pay for itself.

Conclusion: As a significant advantage over previous energy-saving lamps the 12W Ecobulb has in addition to the light output again the dimensions of a normal 60 W bulb. They can therefore be used in most specially constructed lamps. After the light output of energy-saving lamps over the years but (determined by one quarter) subsides but noticeable, should the application range of the previous 60W bulbs better equal to only 4 mm longer (and thereby significantly start faster!) 15 W variant of Ecobulb grab. With this new generation of energy-saving lamps, which is next to the minimize size in mercury content, the technology certainly seems so advanced that you can as a consumer good life and again save it. Only for very short service intervals of seconds to a few minutes of time, the light bulb will probably continue to none.
