Given the coupon on the TZ40, I took the leap and I sent back the Canon (in perfect condition, firmware updated, you will find it here on occasion, a case for fans of Canon or those that the complexity of TZ40 a turn-off). The Sony HX50, bigger, more, a little better is not available in France with GPS.
The GPS information is included in the photo file and are recognized by GoogleEarth. No need to mark in the photo. The GPS works well, obviously not indoors, tunnel or other difficult reception conditions. This is not a Garmin hiking who also has trouble getting a fix in these conditions!
WiFi overcomes the USB connection and is fast enough, far more than the TZ40 but only serves to send photos to the PC. The 280 is installed as a device, very easy.
It works very well but it should not be too far from the case ADSL especially that the majority has no Hi Gain external antenna. This is normal, mobile has a better antenna and circuit size question.
Take spare batteries and a universal charger LiIon sector, car cigarette lighter (~ 20) because no way of recharging in the camera via the USB cable as the TZ40. What's funny is that some find this advantage, a disadvantage ??? The force of habit, no doubt.
The flash that automatically pops up is frustrating as often against my left index finger was laying on, or to lock! The grip is not the best of this. One tip, stick a rubber pellet rating to improve decision and get used to index it.
