I have the camera 7 weeks in intensive use, including 2 weeks holiday and I have a lot of pictures indoors and at events with the Nissin made i40 flash.
My conclusion: I would Camera definitely not buy me one more time.
The flash drive is completely outdated and unusable. I have the ISO sensitivity often increases to 1600 to still capture the natural light as possible yet the camera was not to control demand, the flash output in a position, either in TTL mode still in "A" mode. The images were either too bright or too dark.
As I wrote earlier, in backlight flash control is also useless as a fill.
Obviously, at the Fuji just not only the design but also the flash control Retro.
And while we're at Retro: Although the Zeitwahlrad instead of the usual PSAM dial looks "old school" of proving to the daily operation rather than an obstacle.
If you want to use the program in automatic X-E2 has to the Zeitwahlrad be set to "A" and for lenses with aperture ring but without aperture scale in addition a small switch on the lens is also set to "A" otherwise you photograph with aperture priority.
Lenses with aperture ring and aperture scale have these switches are not here you have to turn beyond the aperture 22, there is then also a "A" mark.
For lenses without aperture ring and just this switch you look once puzzled because you do not know how to switch on Program AE. For this you have the small dial at the back of the camera easy the whole dazzling array by scrolling to the end is also an "A" appears.
So notice A + A = P, but is easy?
To be honest, this is the biggest crap I've ever seen, since the operation of the Fuji X-M1 is much more logical and convenient.
I have the X-E2 now with 2 different handles tried so that you can handle this thing with slightly larger lenses bearable.
The original Fuji-handle I immediately sent back, it is expensive and not worth the money. Although the much more favorable handle by Mengs but solid wobbles slightly.
It turns ever the question why a camera with which battery weighs just 350 grams with a handle which brings only 120 grams on the scale to spoil mitigate only a few serious, the retro look owed design error.

Update after nearly four weeks use:
The flash, whether internally or externally is a great underbelly of Fuji.
Is it possible to use even with the popligsten compact camera nowadays the flash for brightening faces in backlight fails miserably here the Fuji because it is not able to flash at shutter speeds shorter than 1 / 180s employ.
In practice, it looks like this:
Taken one with aperture priority (A), the images are mercilessly overexposed because the camera more than a minimum speed of 1 / 180s used in bright sunlight that is far too long. So brighten faces when sun is not ever.
You switch to Programmed Auto (P), the camera is the shutter mercilessly until the time at 1 / 180s can press a powerful effect not just always wants and needs. In short, brightening at maximum aperture is not at Fuji! (It's not a bug, it's a feature now say the Fuji-disciples and refer to an ND filter ....)
With exterenem flash (I'm using the i40 Nissin) sees it no better, the effect is the same. In addition that the Fuji unable is the AF-assist light of the flash unit to activate. Since the camera's internal auxiliary light is like, always really but obscured by your fingers of larger lenses, it is incomprehensible why Fuji does not support the AF assist lamp in the flash unit.
Update after nearly two weeks usage:
I just now something befriended the camera. As I said, the picture quality is beyond reproach, it I will not go into further here, but I want my decision to buy Fuji explain something.
I have chosen deliberately for a small camera, because I want to be as flexible as possible and did not want to lug around tons of equipment. A friend has a Canon 5D stowed together with various high-speed lenses, all in a bulky backpack, which I do not want to carry around with.
Why Fuji and not Sony? Quite simply, Fuji has provided a high-quality and compelling objective program off the ground in a short time. Not cheap, but considering the quality offered low.
Back to X-E2: When handled for a while with the camera you notice that the small size of course, has its drawbacks. The ergonomics is not the best and with the 18-55 lens and a flash unit you are at the limit of what you want to expect, ie from then becomes unwieldy.
Clearly you have to say, the X-E2 lives only really compact with fixed focal lengths on.
Unfortunately I am not a friend of right fixed focal lengths, although I have to still bought 18-55 the 27 mm lens, but went back again, is quality difference to the surprisingly good 18-55 is only slight, and I really want in any lens the stabilizer to miss. Here a sensor-side stabilization as Olympus and now Sony would offer a fine thing.
Back to handling: I have now still 10-24 F4 bought the Fuji and ordered the 50-140 2.8. As I mentioned, really good, the camera will no longer lies in the hands. So I wanted to order the not exactly cheap auxiliary handle MHG-XE Fuji me zähnknirschend to eliminate also the annoyance of not more to be opened on the tripod battery / card slot. I wanted to order just as much my half leather bag from Gariz eye. Looks chic was supposed to have a massive aluminum floor and also access the card slots on the stand.
Turned out unfortunately as Blender, who wants to read my review it.
So it ordered the Fuji handle, will report later.
End of 2nd Update
Update after a week use:
Today a star was withdrawn because not convinced me to operate the camera.
Yes, the image quality is very good, but that's not all. After I have photographed several motifs on the tripod I was annoyed. Zig time the camera is annoying to see nehem from the tripod and the quick-release plate Unscrew only to the memory card.
The great advantage of the electronic viewfinder is actually that you can judge the exposure before shooting. These Fuji has only a small poplig histogram. Even my now 8 years old Sony R1 here provides the perfect control with a zebra pattern. Fast exposure compensation is also not possible because the dial is too sluggish that you can easily adjust it with the thumb.
End Update
I do not want again to make a general description that are in existence to satisfy but to the things I particularly liked the take or not now.
First, the negatives:
Tripod mount is not centered when the camera mounted on a tripod, it can not remove the SD card or battery.
A major shortcoming.
The Fuji has obviously realized this and provides an additional grip to the features: tripod mount in the optical axis, free access to battery and memory card. Actually, it's cheeky offer something as expensive accessories, the auxiliary handle but only resolves design defects.
For larger lenses, the camera is not as good in the hand, but was in sight. The better shaped auxiliary handle should be set.
Playback button on the left below the viewfinder. With a camera like the X-E2 is used naturally whenever possible to produce meaningful seekers, especially in sunlight or, if you like me now suffers from presbyopia and not always want to take pictures with reading glasses.
If you want to briefly check the image in the viewfinder, the camera must always take from the eye in order to press the play button with your left hand, which is annoying.
Unfortunately, no folding screen. But was previously unknown to me.
Sorry, no representation Zebra overexposed areas. Miss I really painful.
Focus Peaking for manual focus adjustment unfortunately somewhat weak.
Although the large rotary knob for setting the time looks "Retro" from but is somehow impractical. At this point, me "PASM" wheel would or an "ISO" wheel rather have been for a 2nd rotary wheel forward by one as the time can be set in manual mode.
It would be nice if it takes these unspeakable Apps for pseudo-remote control over so toys like tablets or mobile phone a reasonable remote control software for the PC would be as vain as Canon mitliefert. Why go most manufacturers assume that all just play around with NEM Tablet and used no more a PC or Mac?
The retro look is now licked and not have to.
Battery life is relatively short, second battery imperative
The positives:
Quality workmanship. The casing is light, but feels at first like plastic, but should be made of magnesium.
Good, comfortable viewfinder was one reason not to decide for Sony.
Meanwhile pleasant price at the level of the Sony A6000 and only half as expensive as the XT-1
Image quality is good, but no better than that of the Sony A6000
High quality lens offer
