Good clock with software problems ?!

TomTom GPS sports watch Multisport (Electronics)

Customer Review

Dear readers,

by now catchier use the TomTom Multi-sports GPS clock I would like to ask my review available.

Packaging / Quality Character / furnishing
There is nothing to complain about. The clock is well made and can be fairly easily removed from the packaging. The clock is a special connection cable to the computer and in a holder for the bike.
The initial setup must via the computer (in my case, a MacBook Pro) to be made, because the clock is made equal times functional with an update. For this, the software must be downloaded for the Mac first. Only then connect the clock by connecting cable to the Mac.
As of today, the software version 1.7.16 is on my clock.
The Quick Start Guide is spartan but illustrated perfectly adequate for the first use. Since the clock can be used intuitively in my opinion, should not be brought to here about major problems also lay technique.

How do I use the clock?
Basically, it does of course simply as a good impression as a clock. But for that it is, after all, not only conceived. When GPS tracker, there are various ways to use the clock-training example, as there would be running, cycling and swimming.
I have used the clock to date and running and swimming.

Running:
With me on the doorstep, the location has lasted for GPS 20 seconds. Then a signal was made and the training could begin. By scrolling one can control various display formats during training. The GPS reception was constantly present and has never led to dropouts.

Swimming:
First you have to inform the clock how long the route is (in the indoor 25m or 50m). Then start and swim. The clock has not counted with me all the tracks, so here is still not fully rely on it. I do not know how it was the swimming style (breast in my case), or whether this also can not be improved by software.

What is so struck me in general?
-The Clock is a power guzzler par excellence. As an example: The clock was charged three quarters. After that I went for a walk. My somewhat larger round takes about 3-3.5 hours. The battery is still three-quarters of current. After about 1.5 hours, I checked the clock and it showed me that the battery will be empty soon. Then I got the clock just turned off for at least the recording is not lost. While the activity of the current path, so that is missing the entire recording. Since I still alongside tracke a Iphone5 / RunKeeper, my recording of the 3.5 hours walk was completely present at least here. After I then arrived at home, showed me at the clock, they almost three quarters still has power. Why are they showing me but during the activity does not like that? Software error?

I -Verbinde the clock with a Bluetoothbrustgurt, recording works often permanent, but sometimes came also a record, that I should have lasting over 1 hour a pulse of exactly 120. Of course this can also be due to my Ultra Sport 4.0 Bluetooth chest strap. To me it was not possible to check whether the GPS clock TomTom has already installed Bluetooth 4.0. This is at least obvious anywhere on the page.

Although -The iOS app is not bad, but the transfer via Bluetooth takes a long time (but it felt hours, depending on the training duration about 2-3 minutes per transmission). For a few weeks I can no longer look at the details in the app. There always comes the message: Sorry, something went wrong. Try again. By pressing the tests again, the same message comes again and again.
Even on the homepage MySports I then but no insight about the details. I do not know what this is.

-The Clock is not Lighting coverage, which disturbs me personally that now less. It has virtually little halos, where one sees sometimes less and sometimes more light better.

The vibration during operation (when one makes for example a tempo) is neat and felt.

Conclusion:
From the design I personally am delighted. The neon green (with neon yellow rather true) looks harmonious. The clock is not difficult and makes a high impression. The clock does many things right but suffers in my opinion, even at the somewhat lack of software. But in the past has often software updates have been made, it is my firm opinion that the clock TomTom also really want to improve, not just sitting there and relaxed watching how annoying the user. Some companies take years to bring a useful software on the market, some do but never create. I just hope that TomTom stay tuned and helps the users inclined to a very good clock.
The battery does the rest, and not keep overly long in GPS mode. That's too bad, because it can just go in bicycle area sometimes by several hours recording. This can be set via software update certainly not eliminate completely, but maybe optimize positive.
Therefore, I forgive 3 stars on the TomTom GPS clock. The trend is towards 4 stars, but I personally still too little.

If you have persevered this far, I congratulate you most sincerely. They have survived my review and I hope it was informative for you.
Whether positive or negative, you can confirm with an actuation of the helpful and non-helpful buttons. No matter how you decide, I wish you much fun browsing and if you should have decided on the TomTom Multi-sports GPS clock ... always a fabulous recording for you! ;-)
