I think quite a lot of presentations at school, I wanted my presentation way perfect and I've even looked around. Here my eyes fell by chance on the Professional Presenter R800 Logitech. As I became aware of him before he was released and I a "Erstbesteller" was sort (^^), I of course was able to support what has annoyed me personally something on any reviews, because I only make me an accurate picture of products would I purchase.
So now I try to help people to decide for or against this unit.
Zuersteinmal should be said that one should think carefully about whether you would need a Presenter. The price is in fact very high for a "hobby" device. Should we now come to the conclusion that you need a presenter and that the price plays a minor role, I think we can be very satisfied with the R800.
The facts:
At first glance you can see fairly quickly what the available buttons on the top are to be used. The laser pointer button is at the top. Among the two ergonomically geformnten forward and back buttons. And finally even a button for start / end of the presentation and for blackening the screen. If one then looks at him a closer look you can see the on / off switch on one side and the timer on the other side. The USB receiver is embedded below.
The Presenter is (depending on the hand size) very handy. It's a very nice feeling to hold it in his hand. The rubberized surfaces protect the Presenter before an "off-the-hand-slip". By his dignified way the presenter can be very comforting during the presentation; you do not start playing with a pen or kneading fingers, making so a bad impression.
The laser pointer is very good. In full sunlight, you can still recognize him on the slides in the presentation. His range and very good light collection convince me very!
The buttons are intuitively accessible and well-arranged. The only downside to the location is that the key for presentation start and the key to darken are very small, which in turn (+ point) guards against accidentally close the presentation. The range (25-30m, according to Logitech) is perfectly adequate for a normal Präsenatation, I think.
Also worth mentioning is the integrated timer that vibrates once for 5 minutes and than 2 minutes before time, and then leaves the end of time and be extended on request by 5 minutes. So you keep eye on the time and has plenty of space to initiate the end of the presentation.
Big plus (especially for a Logitech device) is that no software is needed to use the R800. You just plug the USB Receiver into your PC or Mac and can get started. While thus falls away an individual assignment of the keys, but this would not really make sense in my opinion at a Presenter.
Conclusion:
For people for whom the price of a good device does not matter and need a practical and handy presenter, the R800 in my opinion is a good to very good choice. I am completely satisfied with the device.
However, those who do not need a timer with vibration alert, should consider whether it with red laser pointer and without timer does not prefer the cheaper option (R400) because this is a price difference (depending on the provider; my source Logitech.com) 30 concerns.

Now, after a long time, with some operations of R800 I have to say that I'm still very enthusiastic about the instrument and the investment has more than paid off! The R800 has never let me down and, in my opinion, low power consumption, which makes a battery change-a rarity (depends of course on the frequency of the laser pointer insert which already properly draws on the batteries). One uses but primarily the appearance buttons and the Timer, the power consumption makes barely noticeable.
In addition, the R800 pleasant and ergonomically located even with longer presentation in hand and no sweating causes (if anyone nervous I, he may still sweating on the hands, but the material is not to take so uncomfortable at how many laser pointer / Presenter of normal hard plastic).
All in all my stay 5 star and I would again 5 drauflegen, wenns was going! Simply a super device!
2-year EDIT:
The Presenter is now in more or less regular use for more than 2 years with me. In the meantime I could through my company the R400 also to satisfy test (it is part of the standard repertoire, while the R800 then but is too expensive for most applications). With the experience of this long time to the comparison with the R400 I remain also in my opinion above. Although the R400 is much cheaper, the additional functions (timers, etc.) of R800 become indispensable for me. I suppose even normally prefer my Presenter with than the company's own use, since both the feel and the features of the R800 are simply convincing.
