Overall, the device is processed very stable and clean.
In the water container inside the scaffolding comes with the plugged filter. Then water is poured and placed the shell. The fan draws air through openings in the water container, passes it to the water-soaked filter by and leaves enriched so moisturized air to flow upward again. Thus, the device works on the principle of evaporation and to means of the filter by increasing the surface area allow increased evaporation. Philips indicates that the humidifier is suitable for a surface area of up to 25 square meters. The ceiling height is thereby disregarded. An indication in cubic meters would have made more sense.
Due to the fan with three adjustable speeds, the device does not work silently. However, the audio frequency of the fan is selected enjoyable. No later than in other ambient noise, such as the sound of a TV set, me, the fan no longer falls on. For bedrooms, there is also a sleep mode, in which the fan operates at the lowest level and the display is turned off as far as possible.
The desired humidity can be selected in three stages (40, 50 and 60%). There is also an automatic mode, which is set by default to 50%, but can be adapted on 40 or 60%.
The water tank holds about 2 liters, ranging at medium fan speed for about 12 hours of running time with me. If a minimum water level is reached, the unit switches off and indicates this with a red LED.
I operate the device in my heated living room (old building) with a volume of about 20 square and 50 cubic meters. In continuous operation, an increase of humidity of 10% to just over 50% was reached. 60% humidity were never achieved. I also want to mention that this result relates to the values displayed by the instrument. My little weather station shows me lower values. In fairness it should also be mentioned that the door of the living room is never closed, because I do not like enclosed spaces.
Who cares about the Internet knowledge, but find that the humidification is generally not as high for models after evaporation technology. Who wants a high humidification, should look around for a hot evaporator, but have other disadvantages (higher power consumption and Umtsänden also too high humidification with mold etc.). Then there Kaltvernebeler where the humidification but is again low and are considered more susceptible to bacterial pollution.
This brings me to maintenance. Water container and interior framework can be easily cleaned with warm water and detergent. The filter is rinsed with warm water. Both should be done once a week. Every two weeks is the filter for one hour in a 1: 1 solution of water and white vinegar are inserted, and then rinse it with clear water. Lt. Herstller to replace the filter every three months, but at least once a year, with otherwise adequate cleaning. The container for the antibacterial ingredients to be replaced once a year. Here I would note that the filter starts despite proper cleaning to smell even a little bit, if one comes very close to my nose. I have to buy vinegar probably times.
Compared to a Kaltvernebeler, I called my own times, the cleanability has been solved by the manufacturer but exemplary. Just the thing with the vinegar do not like it really, because the filter is not tiny and at a 1: 1 solution you will need a lot of vinegar.
The parts to be changed are currently not available on Amazon. But I have read elsewhere that they can be delivered from January 2014 by the manufacturer. Here also, the price of spare parts would certainly be interesting before purchasing the device.
Ie total of one of the better devices in the market with principle related weakness in the humidification. A star deduction but that availability and rates for the consumables are not really clear. One point that must, in my view with included in the assessment.
