A 17 "notebook, incl Win8, dual core Sandy ..., USB3, and so for a price of 429, -. To get from Asus, I think is a bargain.
The installed Asusumgebung is relatively reasonable and not too cluttered with unnecessary programs, Win8 is already installed in the delivery.
The surface can easily be reduced so that there are also the parents quickly to right (like in my "use case": o) - the fear of Win8 is therefore unbegründet- a click and you're already in the browser, the email client, or familiar Windows interface.
Although I hate to work with touch surfaces, invites the large area below the keyboard to try a: ~ not so bad.
A good energy-saving settings ensures that you can always keep in standby, the notebook probably (almost 4-Month Battery Life without reloading standby, according to display), rather than having to turn it off completely. The advantage here: the launch of the system really only takes a few seconds - I knew of Windows so far. The "normal" start of the system is also faster than on my previous Windows computers (am now privately Mac users).
A word on the processor: Core i3 not any faster than the built in this notebook CPU. Comparable is quick example. the "Intel Core i3-370M," or "Intel Core i3-2310M". A good overview creates the page from notebookcheck.com.
The weak point of this laptop is performance, secure the narrow graphic ... for HD video's but still ausreichend- with output capability via HDMI - for sophisticated games is the internal graphics chip, of course, useless.
Conclusion: price / performance is very good.
