I bought the adapter to connect a SATA DVD drive to an IDE connector (have no free SATA ports more - everything from hard drives used).

Unfortunately reading DVDs through this adapter is 2-3x slower than with the same drive and computer via the SATA connector. I suspect is because the drive is too low reading speed is selected - the drive spins also much quieter.

With hard drives that part works fine, get about 100MB / s data transfer rate. But I needed the part of the DVD drive, which is why only three stars.
