Good game but horrible console port

Trials Evolution - Gold Edition - [PC] (computer game)

Customer Review

I divide my review into 5 categories, each with a possible 5: graphics, gameplay, long-term motivation, technology and other.

****** ****** Graphic
The graphics are very nice to look at on the XBox. Graphic highlights like antialiasing one seeks in vain though, but the interplay of light and shadow is simply beautiful. Unfortunately, the situation on the PC is not much better. Although it has the ability to activate antialiasing in the Options, but this has no significant impact on the game. The developer of the PC version though missed some refreshed textures, but these are 1: 1 upscaling of the console version and see thus from more bad than good. The falls straight on the (barely existing) grass and sand. Here you only have green or yellow textures mud. Also, the game, at least for me, to fight with strong Grafikbugs. If I restart a race, the game needs to load again about 1-2 seconds around the area. The vastly annoying after some time. Even the well-intentioned smoke is a horror game and becomes a gray wall more, and not only once cost me a mistake. The list of faults can be carried out here even more, but I just hope that the developer nachbessert. However, there is something positive to report: Here and there there are particles, such as sparks from the campfire, which looks really pretty. Also, the previously mentioned interplay of light and shadow is very nice. Moreover, the reflections in the water are quite respectable.

I spend 3/5 points for the graphics.

****** ****** Game
The game has not really have much in common with the "old" Trials, but it does not have to also. I like the new Trials with explosions and everything around it. Places where you have to toss correctly, but there is none. With practice, each site is feasible. The routes are varied and the track editor is plenty of content from the Community submitted.

I spend 4/5 points for the game.

****** ****** Long-term motivation
As already mentioned, constantly new routes will be resupplied by the very community. Thus, should one not soon run out of steam and the routes. However, the multiplayer is currently hard to use. If you really can make time to join a game, the opponents are either Level 10 on one or the connection breaks off constantly. While there is the possibility to be thrown with equally strong opponents in a group, but you may then like to 10 - 15 minute wait. Here needs to be urgently rectified, especially if you only times in between will turn times a round.

I spend 3/5 points for the long-term motivation.

****** ****** Technology
Here I will be a bit shorter now. Each bike rides differently and man must choose the right one for each route. Light and shadow are really first class. The physics of the game is getting used to, but all in all quite believable. The time currently emerging particles are quite respectable, although I would have liked these effects more frequently. Finally a brief note on the control: In short, with keyboard, the game scrap. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to play on PC with a 360 controller XBox, otherwise the game would fly back off the plate.

I spend 4/5 points for the technology.

****** Others ******
Towards the end I would like to let off some steam. Why do you spoil such a good game with UPlay. Ubisoft's face it, I can understand you, you want to take action against piracy and earn money. All yes Okay, but you have to introduce it as a scrap like UPlay? You have to look first two hours in the Internet as an honest buyer, how do you get the game up and running? And why is a patch published simultaneously with the release of the game, then not even work? Is it no longer possible to take 1-2 months more time nu and then bring out a running game? I am more than disappointed.

I spend 0/5 points for this crap.

****** ****** Conclusion
At the moment I can only give a limited buy recommendation. As long as the problems with UPlay, the Grafikbugs and Multiplayer are not corrected, making the game far less fun. However, the game is not bad per se. Waits however, prefer 1-3 months until the game falls a bit in price and then smite.
