for my 20 liters Nano Cube I bought 5 liters Zanzibar Black sand / gravel.
When the bag open the first surprise. The sand / gravel was not black but gray. After I've given something in a cup and rinsed thoroughly with plenty of water was the sand, however as desired black with white elements (why ??). There are, however, a big problem !! The Zanzibar Black Sand is hopelessly dusty. Alone flushing of 5 KG Sand cost me a good hour and felt 1000 liters of water. I've always just done something in a large bowl and many, many times washed until the water was halfway clear. A chore. Then you can also submit the same clean the siphon.
If the gravel in the aquarium first he makes a pretty good figure. Funnily enough, the sand is not completely black but contains many white components. Nevertheless, the sand looks great. Even my Red Crystal shrimp make it a good figure. Also, the green of aquarium plants is important to good advantage.
Comparing the Zanzibar Black Sand with the Dennerle Nano Shrimps Gravel then you quickly realize that the Zanzibar is much finer and the Dennerle somehow coarser and rounded. The Zanzibar is like saying black with some white and Dennerle completely black. Visually, I find, however, the Dennerle better.
Conclusion: The Zanzibar Black is at first glance a good gravel. However, the washing is extremely tedious. In my opinion not worth the effort. In addition, the gravel is not completely black. The better alternative is the Dennerle Nano Shrimps Gravel is dust-free and can be poured from the bag into the aquarium quasi. He is also visually beautiful and totally black.
