The threaded bore of the camera is by the way also suitable for normal tripods.
Of course, motion sensor, light sensor and IR Led`s are on board. The permanently installed breakout cable, in which the LAN port, the power supply, audio in / out cable and a reset switch is located is somewhat unusual unhappy wide, one should so wish through the wall, the requisite hole is quite large fail. Contain a small antenna included and screwed by hand, ensures the possible wireless connection. By the way, this cam requires 12 V voltage and is therefore not compatible with the 5V power supply of 8904W series.
After I briefly looked in the manual, I knew the camera's IP address and would (via LAN connection) through the browser can immediately access the camera. But I still used the CD and use the Cam-recognition software. Amazingly, the camera has been connected with me via LAN, recognized by the software immediately and received a DHCP address. About this new address the camera could be accessed and configured in the browser. There are angebl. only support 32-bit browser and it must be installed for the video display a Activ-X scripts. I did everything by hand, and it was already quite extensive. In Camera Device Management allows users, time, network, wifi, UPnP, DynDNS, Email, FTP, alarm, set and much more.
What really bothered me was the immature web interface that allows you to configure the action. I entered everything went well, but it wanted the motion detection function (motion detection) simply do not work. There simply were transferred to the FTP server not found (Snap's) or video sequences. In addition, the software (menu items) was quite poorly translated or missing entire words. Menu items such as, "Please make sure the Capture memory page in advance" are intended to mean that one should specify the snapshot storage as a path under FTP for alarm pictures beforehand. Sometimes it is messed up and you do not know what is meant. The "Reception Venue" is automatically the FTP server (in my case a NAS) and the "shooting location" is the local path C: \ on your PC be ... well as to get sometime still behind .. ,
I finally hammer out the correct camera configuration only via the Foscam app on the smartphone, as I have about the schedule and the Motion Detection function or other values activated. That worked immediately and the Cam will assume immediate actions. They will send some pictures to the email address and / or to an FTP server in movement. Of course you can also watch live. This is only in the LAN an IE / Firefox etc., or a suitable mobile app (the Foscam app does it well) enough. Should it work, "world", the dyndns data must still be registered in the camera and the router a corresponding port forwarding is enabled. For me it worked, the phone I now see anytime, anywhere live what is happening in my driveway, in actions / movements are transmitted to the FTP server (NAS drive) some pictures and if desired, an email with the same images ships. Mind you, if you too sensitive setting the "Motion Alarm", you get permanently emails because any insect is over hopped on the camera.
These cam support and 2-way audio, but must probably an external microphone and a speaker are connected, which I have not yet tested.
The camera works with me over WLAN very good! The Cam is about 5 meters from the wireless router installed away outdoors and has full signal strength.
For me the image on an 8-inch monitor is transferred and I have a crisp clear day and night yet a sufficient image quality. Small disadvantage, the IR-LEDs of camera light up at night visible light reddish, thus the camera for unobtrusive "observations" problematic.
But because of the cumbersome, partly. Unclear menu items and the troubled facility the alarm activation (Motion Detection) I forgive just 3 star, a mere "layperson" has here certainly has its problems and some returning (see other reviews) the action is for I now understood.
