The Gigaset element system and the camera are installed really fast. The Quick Guide is sufficient. However, I have the camera initially addressed via the PC interface and logged in not using the smartphone. There then came the message, something would be installed and that went for more than an hour this way. Then I stopped and behold camera was already installed. Why the interface on the PC is not aware that the product is already installed, no idea!
Somewhat nebulous remains the WLAN address. In the first installation was indeed the LAN cable to the Cam, the option for Wi-Fi comes after the initial installation. All right. However, do not see that a wireless connection is established and which WLAN is currently set, the user also undergoes NOT. This is only a blemish, really great, I do not think that.
The camera can be displayed on the PC interface or the smartphone. Sense is once that after an alleged burglar alarm with the camera can view the situation on the ground directly located. Accordingly, when the first call and once a still image.
However, you can also switch to live-cam and then the sound will be transmitted. In general: The image has a delay relative to the live action of approximately 10 seconds, which also is clear, the picture has only just over the wireless network to Siemens are transmitted and then the Internet provider back to the phone and so on. Because of course goes some time.
The image quality is typical surveillance camera quality. So not overly keen but rather grobrasterig. Even cheap smartphones in the double-digit euro range doing better pictures, likely from the inside ago but significantly more complexity than the Gigaset Kamera.Eine ability to manually adjust focus, exposure, etc. are not. Everything is automatic and this is probably the operating concept which in itself is not so bad.
Only you should know that you can not get high-end images. Indication of sensor size, pixel count, etc. I have never found. The cam can shoot in complete darkness, because around the lens a variety of IR diodes are mounted, which are activated with an audible clack relay when it is too dark. Unfortunately, there are no real IR diodes, because if they are in operation, can be seen around the lens, a deep red glow. Here was truly saved in the wrong place, because if you the green Ready LED still can mask off in order to go unnoticed make recordings can NOT you can do this with the IR lighting yes do, because otherwise the screen remains dark. So it has a burglar very easy to make through the window the position of the camera already and to make the camera after entering the apartment quickly unusable.
The camera itself has on the back of a metal socket with thread and that includes a holder that can be screwed to the wall or can only use as a stand. The bracket has a ball head mounted like screw that fits into the socket of the camera. For some unknown reason the locknut is so thick that only 2 to 3 thread turns survive in the camera at this screw. The mounting of the camera is very windy and you leiert when adjusting the camera screw and socket quickly. The fastening screw itself must be determined on the bracket with a counter-screw, which in turn is on the back of the bracket. These assembly is rather unfortunate and difficult to change afterwards.
During testing I've aligned the camera even through the window into the garden area. The pictures are fine (quality as described above), but you can by a disk not use IR-assist illuminator. The lights are just reflected and then outshine what you actually want to see. But that is not a criticism of the camera, but only an indication for practical use.
What exists is also not (and here the line between the assessment of the camera itself and the element system generally something), is a combination of the other sensors and the camera. The fact that the camera is so coupled to the motion and the same times mitfilmt not provided.
To what extent a data transfer with the Siemens server also includes risk points because hackers can see then whether the apartment is unoccupied, is another question that everyone must decide for themselves.
In this respect at the camera with me remains a rather two-part Feedback: On the one hand the idea of being able to look into their own apartment in the absence via smartphone, fascinating and the installation is quite reasonable. But I would assume that a pure IP-camera is also more complicated to use. If necessary, you then there is also the possibility, individual cutouts zoom by touching the screen, the Siemens App allows such thing.
The image quality is for a security camera so la la fine, technically, you are left here well short of what is possible (and affordable).
But the loveless fixing and visible mitleuchtende IR illumination round with me from the picture that the product is not yet fully developed or are given here starting points for product improvements.
The weighting of the points of criticism must of course everyone decide for himself, in my view add up the individual points (especially the IR illumination) already to almost 1 to 2 points from a 5-star product. Rounded there are definitely 1 point deduction because intermediate values are not so intended.
Here, perhaps again in breakdown:
