... Because this is a new, more than a novel. Pocket Edition, 150 pages including 130 about the story itself, and yet it is written large. In short, the book is shipped within hours. If the French publication is recent, the original edition, in English, dates back to 2006, in a collection "Nocturnes". To my knowledge - and to my great regret - this collection is unpublished in France. Chronologically, this new is inserted in the series of Charlie Parker at "The Black Angel". Despite this intermediate format between novel and new, it is still a good book. First, a rare thing, it is prefaced by John Connolly returning on the genesis of his character, Charlie Parker, and his writing debut. It's short, only a few pages, but for fans of "Charlie" is quite touching. It is also the appearance of the "Collector", this half-man, half-vigilante murderer, who makes his debut and which is found in power amount on several occasions in Connolly's novels. The story itself is pretty basic, the summary that gives Amazon above is consistent with what you find in the book. Difficult to say more without revealing the (small) plot. Finally, if Connolly has accustomed us to sprinkle his stories a fantastic strand, know that it has this time a little heavier hand. No criticism in my way, I enjoyed it, but it might confuse her most rational readers.
