Good price / performance ratio 99

For my D5000 I had long been looking for a "shard" with longer focal length to finally fulfill my desire for frame-filling shots of racing and animals. The "usual suspects" were beside Nikon Tamron and Sigma. So as always studying reviews, compared prices, pre- weighed and disadvantages and (AF-S DX 70-300mm Tamron AF 4-5.6 Di VC USD SP and Nikon) postponed the decision once the basis of press releases. Now that the two remaining options were finally available on the market, I was as smart as previously the absence of current and reliable tests. I just went for the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm 1: 4,5-5,6G ED VR decided. Superficial arguments: Inexpensive, easily and completely in the Nikon editing workflow (ViewNX2, Capture NX2) integrated.

Did this decision so far not regretted. After the first test shots the following preliminary conclusions:

+ Rubber seal and metal bayonet
+ Relatively lightweight without being cheap and easy or to rattle!
+ Focal range 82.5 + 450 mm (small picture) supplemented my Tamron 17-50 2.8 mm quite good
+ Faster and actually pretty quiet auto focus (is with my Tamron quite noisy)
+ Nikon typical accessories included (lens hood HB-57, lens pouch CL-1020)
+ Inexpensive

- When focusing co-rotating front lens
- At 300 mm AF will now and then no focus point, ie .Brennweite reduce and focus and then increase again
- At maximum focal length, the lens extends by around 10 cm
- Relatively high initial aperture from 4.5 to 5.6

In the current (street) Sales price when you have the lens of course make some compromises. However, so far I can not find anything serious negative. Offers other providers (TAMRON, Sigma, ...) are not any better or cheaper and conditions for Nikon lens is a bargain !!

Conclusion: Lens for Nikon .NEF post-processor is a "must" and yet definitely worth the price absolutely!
