My first impression of the notebook was, "Now I have to wear gloves every day, so I did not fingerprints everywhere". This has unfortunately also true for the first few minutes of use since the blue and shiny top has become apparent to the magnets for fingerprints.
Decisive for me was the combination of "Intel Core i5 CPU", which has more power than the also very often built "Intel Core i3 CPU," and a "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470", which even a tiny bit of the opportunity to play opened in contrast to most Intel chip sets. But this had then also a disadvantage, because the powerful components go on battery power:
Operating time when playing a 1080p MKV with maximum performance and maximum brightness
- Ca. 1 hour 20 minutes
Operating time when playing back a 720p mkv power saving mode and minimum brightness
- Ca. 2 hours 20 minutes
Recharge the battery after shutdown to retire in less than 5% battery power
- Ca. 1 hour 35 minutes
So you can get a HD movie with extra length, where from there hardly are any, not necessarily all completely.
Another point of criticism is the built-in speakers. So can be set by external (ancient, "cheap") boxes reach a wonderful sound, but at the built in speakers, it comes already at medium volume to small noise. At maximum volume, this noise is now so loud that one understands little of the wiederzugebendem sound.
The performance values, the Acer Aspire holds a little better, so the performance evaluation of Windows 7 looks like this:
Processor - 6.7
RAM - 5.9
Graphics - "5.1"
Graphics (game) - 6.2
Primary hard drive - 5.4
What there is a total of 5.1 by the worst rating in the graphics, which is still pretty good for a notebook.
For (x-CPU = 1 CPU = 7618CB 3310CB, 4283CB = OpenGL) speak the relatively good results from Futuremark PCMark Vantage (5198 PCMarks) and Cinebench.
Futuremark 3DMark Vantage gave no result, which is to be used for comparison, since the Acer Aspire minimally resolution, which were needed for the additional tests, unsupported. But may also have been just an incorrect setting of me.
The glossy display has, if one adjusts the brightness down, a relatively high similarity to my bathroom mirror in the morning, both do not want to really see.
In all tests carried out by me, the notebook has become not really heard loud purrs softly when it is demanding. This is compared to my TravelMate, which has already become audible at loud load, a good development.
So again in summary:
Pro:
- Good CPU performance
- Good performance GPU
- Price is for the components "nor" low
- Comfortable level even with load
Cons:
- Very poor boxes
- Battery is not suitable for prolonged use of video entertainment
- Display reflects heavily
- Fingerprint magnet
Since my application now is not primarily focus on the multimedia area and if they once Multimedia playback is required, the notebook is almost always connected to existing boxes and display, I'll keep it well, and I get a second battery for longer trips.
