The Chromecast I wanted mainly to save me the HDMI cable to the TV.

For Windows you should mainly use Chrome. This allows transferring the contents of a tab or even the entire desktop. On Youtube the player even gets an extra icon to specifically only play the video. Transmission is greatly delayed. The transmission is possible for me only on High 720p. Extreme 720p high bitrate jerky very strong. Full available Wifi reception by Fritzbox 7490.
