Immediately after connecting the sound card via USB this was recognized by Win7
and I was able to play music from both the phone jack and RCA output.
The music quality is very good and also the volume is impressive, considering
the fact that required current is drawn only via USB.
Unfortunately worked with Windows drivers only the direct output, remote control
and control button on the device did not work.
After installing the Creative driver (14.01.2010 for Win7) and unfortunately many
and useless software, hired a certain disillusionment:
1)
Using the remote control can only adjust the volume (Volume up / down / mute).
The other buttons remained without function. Although promised, so "Windows software"
be able to control, not even the Windows Media Player Lies pause, let alone
Other players like Foobar, WinAmp or VLC. The two "X-Fi" -Settings "Crystalizer"
and "CMSS-3D" could be remotely switched on and do not turn off. This requires
the software "Creative Console" are used. A configuration option for
Unfortunately, the remote control is missing.
2)
After working the knobs on the device, but it affects only the Windows system volume.
Here one can therefore also louder, quieter and mute button.
3)
The software is a disaster. If you install only the necessary software (ie no
Player etc.), 8 Porgramme be installed, of which only the Console has a benefit.
Using selbiger can on volume, div. EAX effects, mixer and the above two "X-Fi" effects
be accessed. The Console responded a bit sluggish, is in general. But quite useful.
(Above all, because the remote control is not working properly;))
Tip:
The software, at least from the Startup take (msconfig), the unit continues to work,
Software can then be started as required. Alternatively, uninstall if "X-Fi" effects
are not needed.
4)
The "X-Fi" effects:
The "Crystalizer" to make the sound appear clear, but almost certainly not for me
was recognizable. With a correspondingly expensive pit system could probably better here
Results are conceded, as with my 2.1 system ...
"CMSS 3D" is to create virtual surround sound with stereo headphones. This I could not test.
Conclusion:
5 stars for the great hardware and excellent sound quality.
-1 Star for unnecessary software that, in any case, is only partially useful but too lame go.
-1 Star for the remote control is limited functioning and the unfulfilled promises.
Bottom line, 3 star for good sound.
