The operation goes well out of hand, even under water is quickly between modes (eg. Underwater and Underwater Macro to change). The confusingly between trigger and the button for viewing images happened to me only 1-2 times, then the position of the buttons was clear also they are kept haptic different.
The picture quality is more than adequate for us. On land and under the sun (as in cloudy weather) beautiful pictures around and trees were possible. Macro images from 5cm distance (flowers) were also not a problem. The mode for low light is amazingly good, at twilight and moon very beautiful pictures were still possible.
On the negative side should be noted that no limitation of the ISO mode is possible (eg. Only 100-800 ISO), but always the full range or a fixed ISO value can be selected. This leads then to greater depths and less sun to slightly grainy results. But deductions up to 14x9 cm are certainly quite possible only at significantly larger than 30x20 cm prints I see severe restrictions.
The quality of housing is very good, the cabinet held at 1-1.5 hours at a time and up to 7 meters always tight. A Polish side tested the camera up to 33 meters of water, because the water pressure were the buttons no longer use, but the camera held tight. Here Canon has certainly ahead of Panasonic, with a check of the seals is necessary to sand course.
The battery lasted us about 2 days, at 200-300 shots with little use of flash and much zooming.
Conclusion: A camera that is worth your money. It is robust and makes beautiful recordings. She has no SLR level, the aperture of the lens is not great, and in Auto or P mode a few settings are possible. Nevertheless, they can be a lot of freedom and anti-shake lets thanks to good photos. If you want more quality, 500 euros for a Canon S95 has / S100 muster with underwater housing, which is then significantly larger.
UPDATE: After a vacation in Namibia, I can say that the camera with the light comes difficult to navigate there. The momentum (red earth, trees, rocks) with bright sky did not work, even with post-processing in Lightroom 4 the sky remained rather pale. The camera has often overexposed the whole photo. The benchmark is a SLR camera, which of course is slightly unfair.
The camera is very well suited for underwater, in Crete it has otherwise also works for an African safari, I would not take. But I can not even, it was stolen on the way back ...
