There are the following reasons:
* It's really dry and hard. -> The "American" product is too soft for my taste and the accordingly not dry enough, which is why it has broken down after a few bites in the mouth into its component parts. Dried meat is something to bite and here you really have to bite (at least that's my taste).
* It tastes hearty. -> When I eat dried meat I want something hearty, but the "Jack Link's" product follows on every bite a sweet note in each flavor, which has nothing to look for in a product of this type.
* It's really good meat. -> The "Conower" product you can still see the structure of the meat, the pieces are somewhat irregular and it is here and there a bit of fat. The meat of "Jack Link's" on the other hand seems a little too perfect for my opinion ... All pieces are regularly anywhere we see real structure ... perfection in a natural product not exactly inspire confidence.
