Over time, four WipEout titles are for, inter alia, first PlayStation appeared: '- WipEout (1995)' - Wipeout 2097 (1996) '- Wip3out (1999)' - Wip3out SE (2000) '' There was also a WipEout 64 (1998) for the Nintendo 64 and a conversion of WipEout 97 (as WipEout XL) for the PC. For the PS2 only one title was published: WipEout Fusion.'Mittlerweile is also WipEout Pure and WipEout Pusle for PSP. There were also reactions to other consoles, eg. The SEGA Saturn.
WipEout HD there was to appear exclusively for download via the PlayStation Network (PSN); for quite some time but also on BD-disc because of the great demand and popularity of the game.
Gameplay:
In WipEout HD controlling again the popular Maglev Streaker on futuristic race tracks.
Race modes are:
Run
Time Trial
Speed Lap
Zone / Zone Battle
Tournament
Detonator
Eliminator
All are available in 4 different speeds:
Venom
Flash
Rapier
Phantom
An exception is the zone mode, because there are other speed increases far beyond 'Phantom', which represents an enormous challenge.
In addition there are 3 difficulty levels: Easy, Medium and Hard.
The weapons goodies are also old friends:
Missile, rocket search, tremor, plasma, energy deprivation, bomb, mines, MG
Autopilot, turbo, shield
About the campaign different routes and ships will be unlocked in the paddocks. In this Racebox you can then decide which route you want to what hunters in what speed and in what mode fly.
The campaign is divided into the classical HD and the younger Fury Challenge which again contain several races in several sets. So a maximum of variety is guaranteed.
For my opine herein lies also the main criticism of the new WipEout: Because you can not choose whether to deny individual races and had just mastered the game, but you are forced to go also time trial and zones, etc., even if a These modes make no fun at all. So it can happen that you reach a level of frustration in the later stages of the game, which has no equal ... that should not have been. Why not just a campaign with individual races and / or tournaments, as you would expect from a racing game as well? But so take those who can just do anything with the specific modes, the game more and more rare in the hand if they are not on-line or MP race anyway.
The multiplayer part is nämliches her a lot. So you can either play with friends in split-screen mode or compete against strangers and friends online. This of course makes extremely happy! The split screen can be either horizontal or vertical play if one gambles in pairs. But you can eg. Also play four.
The routes consist in all areas of the game by the way together from a selection of PSP games Pure and Pulse. Sony had already announced but that the game over time is to be extended repeatedly. Keywords: downloadable content.
Personally I hope to a few stretches of the parts 1 and 2 of the PS1-time. They were simply the best.
Very good I think that one has abolished the stupid (in my eyes) speaker system. Although it still has an energy bar, and this also decreases when you are hit and you will ultimately be destroyed if this takes the value 0 'but you can absorb up collecting goodies by pushing a button and so his energy bar refill: very good!
Trophy support:
For all trophy hunters ample cups were inserted. These range from extremely light to heavy and ultra-mega-frustrating. Keyword: Zico ... The fact is that WipEout HD / Fury is one of the absolutely most difficult games when it comes to obtaining a platinum trophy.
Graphics:
Here one has to really splash out. The ships and the routes will appear in an unprecedented splendor. HD in 1080p deluxe!
Everywhere it is lit, it flashes, it sparkles ... it is mind boggling! And all can be even hold using the built-Photo mode as screenshot. At any point in the game!
Sound:
The sound comes in usual excellent quality. It could again be obliged famous artists of the electronic division that accompany the game befitting. The whole course in 5.1 sound. The ambient noise, the voices etc pp leave nothing to be desired. Here all the work was done.
Control:
Control goes well out of hand, even though I believe still that the excellent control, or the drive / flight behavior of the first two parts PSX was never achieved more. Not even in WO HD. - New feature is the controllability via Sixaxis function. After a little practice it works even quite decent and is required inter alia to one or another trophy.
Conclusion:
In summary it can be said that WipEout HD has become a very successful racing game that (finally) make public once again to its name. Wip3out and WipEout Fusion could convince me never really. The PSP titles were then better again. But now I wonder: why always changing things that have paid off in the past? I refer to the campaign. I want a normal race campaign with single race and / or tournaments. Because: (!) I hate the time trial and that I am forced to play this, pisses me off properly. This also applies to the other modes, in between the well can make mood, but have simply no place in a racing campaign!
Ultimately, however, WipEout HD is again a true WipEout with super gameplay, a bombastic graphics, sound and a hammer with a right addictive.
Now you just need a continuous supply in the form of DL content, known old and new tracks and ships.
In this sense ...
3 ... 2 ... 1 ... GO!
BUY!
