Sigma 70-300mm DG Macro F4,0-5,6 (Motor) lens (58mm filter thread) for Nikon (Electronics)

Customer Review

An impression of a DSLR entry-level model:

In early April 2009, I treated myself to a Nikon D60 Kit - this was the 18-55mm lens without VR.
Even so very nice pictures (eg in the Tierpark Berlin) are I succeeded, but more often it was missing a little more focus.

Unfortunately, it's not easy to find a larger lens when you are on a budget.

I've spent many many hours to read in various forums, tests and special internet sites and have looked also sample images without end. The problem is that it becomes more complicated after so much study, to make a choice!
The mind says, "Let it and purchase the same high-quality, fast lens!" ..
The belly is of a different opinion: "purchase an entry-level telephoto and try a lot of - a great loss not doing you there!"

Ok - so I have heard on his stomach and bought this 70-300mm SIGMA with Nikon port)

Of course, today in Berlin lousy weather and no sun in sight. But this was no reason not to test ..

People - I'm thrilled! In my amateur perspective:
-The Lens is very well made and has a metal bayonet, the locks very well.
-All Rings rotate (at least for me) without hakeln and supple.
-The Feel is excellent.
-I Do not find it too light and not too heavy - the camera is now well in hand.
-I Also think the AF is not slow! Note no difference to the kit lens. He also applies neatly and with the bad weather. At least when I out "work". In the living room with no light, he has a hard time, but manually go, too, was not a problem.
-an Image stabilization I do not miss much, the first tests were also without stabilizer more than good.

And now the most important thing, from what I was most afraid - the sharpness:
Did I really lucky? It is sharp !!
One hears everywhere of Serienstreuern at the entry of the third-party lenses, but that is not true of my lens.
I also at the current weather very sharp photos in all focal lengths.

Certain it is, as always in life depends on what claims you will, but in my view SIGMA has delivered with this lens more than was paid. One can make all a science and you can also in every hobby infinite invest a lot of money - no question.
Not always it makes sense to do so, because the most important link in the chain of photography happens to be the photographer.
If I someday have a lot more experience, then the purchase of an expensive lens is even more fun.

Summary:
My expectations of a Nikon D60 was met and I wish to make a clear buy recommendation.
