The beautiful images (all scenes, no card) are dreaming to see, it is significant that the authors have given endnotes sources: they are very numerous and mostly dates from the nineteenth century or early twentieth century.
Each paragraph is announced by a clear title and starts with a large and beautiful letter trend topic but printed in black. This is actually a real course disguised under a partly anecdotal form, so very exciting and never boring. Unfortunately the text is uneven difficulty (could this be the work sharing between the two authors?) And some paragraph contain too difficult vocabulary for children.
The book is excellent bill: very glossy paper on which the hand passes with great pleasure, stitched booklets, thick hardback. This is a high quality investment made to last a very long time, unlike disposable books (loose leaf collages made of virtually toilet paper instead of stitched booklets) increasingly numerous. Here these dimensions in cm: 23.5 x 28.5 x 2.
In conclusion: a book that every family should have French and jealously preserve.
And since the catastrophe of the teaching of history, I also recommend the second edition (July 2012), the book of Anne of Mézeray, Manual of history of France, available on the internet. We also find old illustrations (much less beautifully printed in this volume), including maps, in the book of Picouly, Our Stories of France, despite the very moved text (see my review of this other work) .
