Apart from any USB flash drives, the plan was to connect 2 Intenso USB 3.0 hard drives with it and to use them in some cases simultaneously. Well, there were dozens of deals in the same style as in anchor. However, since I have a very good experience with the customer service of anchor I knew that my decision would not be wrong.
DELIVERY:
The package, similar to the product is also quite minimalist and clean, a nice gift. The delivery is only the product and an instruction manual.
DESIGN:
The stroke of armature actually looks very nice and is heavier than expected. Of course, the weight is not enough to the device again auszustöpseln, yet the stroke does not slip away at every opportunity. However, he falls over as soon as a cable is connected. On the velcro I chose not to do, because I do not like the visible black paragraph (between white table and silver stroke). Once I decide to determine location, I'll stick to the hub.
CONNECTION:
Now, to connect USB devices should indeed now everyone can do. It should be noted, of course, the USB 3.0 connection. But my problem started already with the fact that the 60cm of cable reach only half the distance to the motherboard. So I tried existing USB extension cable to use (50-60 cm). The Hub has worked, but I had to realize that he works in USB 2.0 mode. My external hard drives (without the AC adapter) from Intenso has 2 LED indicators which can show in which mode you are currently working (green = USB 2.0, USB 3.0 = blue) and the LED lit up green. So there must be a USB 3.0 extension cable to be ordered (presumably with 9 pins).
FUNCTION:
The actual function leaves no questions unanswered. Problematic But what about when 2 hard disks must be connected simultaneously. In the manual is that the sum of the required current of 900mA should not exceed. Likewise, you will find a table of the estimated figures for some device type (mouse, HDD, camera). Now, both drives operate even in USB 3.0 mode. However, once the second hard drive is connected, began the first of clicking noises to give of themselves. Yes, both hard drives were readable, but it was just too risky to operate both drives at the same time as the read head could damage itself or other parts of the hard disk that could cause these noises. Thus, it is not enough power available. In addition, my connected HTC One does not work properly. Although you can work with all the folders, but the message is a "lack of identification of the device" displays.
Among the messages that I can not connect indicate problems with Wi-Fi and USB 3.0 me. I have the two devices almost wrapped together, although the speed is slightly lower (but this may be due to the changed position of the wireless sticks), but everything worked (tested with AVM Fritz! WLAN 2.4Ghz connection). Still, I could understand that there may be in some trouble. The cause is probably the cable, the too thin for the USB 3.0 standard is simple. Compared to cable the Intenso hard drives this is almost twice as thin. A poor shielding can easily cause interference or poor data rates.
The permanently illuminated LED display shows basically only the operational readiness. It makes sense would be the display of the connected device or even their data transmission. In addition, I find the green LED lights no longer appropriate. A blue fits much better to do so.
BENEFITS:
+ Great, minimalist design
+ Good material processing
+ Trouble-free operation
+ Anchor Service
DISADVANTAGES:
- Power is not enough for 2 external HDD's which are operated without power supply
- Thin cables could actually affect the wireless signal power
- Almost meaningless function of the LED display
- Cable is too short> it still needs a proper USB are found and ordered 3.0 Extension Cable
CONCLUSION:
It's a great product for those who like the design of the Apple and wish an appropriate workplace. As with most products, there are disadvantages too. For me, eliminates the possibility of being able to operate 2 hard drives simultaneously, which was very important for me. Nevertheless, it is well to the characteristics of the USB 3.0 standards and I believe anchor can not comment, except possibly to develop a 4-stroke with active power operation (AC adapter) (a greater stroke, I just do not need). Those, however, similar maximum a hard disk or small devices such as USB sticks wish to operate, it is a great deal (assuming there are no problems with the USB 3.0 support). I can only recommend!
