Ultimately, I have but then decided to go for this lens, as it seems to be better than me the new Tamron and I got a good offer to purchase.
As I have often stood before this lens at MM & Co and it was looking at me, I knew what to expect when unpacking (in weight, size and processing). Nevertheless, it is then something else if you take the lens at home in peace under the microscope. On my 40D, the lens makes a good impression and fits comfortably in your hand. On a 1000D / 450D it already looks quite powerful and I'm missing something, the "balance" between the lens and body.
Positives:
- Super sharp and great pictures already from open aperture!
- The continuous aperture 2.8 opens up a new, so not known by the kit lens, creative freedom.
- The combination of aperture 2.8 and the good IS allow one in low light still great blur-free photos that capture the mood well.
- Faster and more accurate Autocus
- Fits comfortably in your hand
Negatives:
- The well-known problem with the dust particles behind the front lens detract from the overall impression of this great objective, unfortunately, a little bit. Although this has no effect on the photos, I feel personally but slightly annoying. The Canon would have done better.
Nevertheless, I am absolutely satisfied with the lens!
Because it does exactly what it should: tack-sharp photos with a perfectly fitting autofocus.
For the criticism I might deduct half a star, but since you can not assign 4.5 points me this lens is so much fun, I round times on full 5 points.
