To Wave yourself:
I have long wondered to send into retirement and to create a new my betagtes phone. Since I had a Samsung, Nokia does not like and iPhone is too expensive, it should be a Samsung again. Actually, I had to buy the Samsung S5230 planned, but because I'm a techie, and therefore would like to have some updates. But also because I was the wave of the optical forth more simply addressed. I have decided for the Wave, even if it was more expensive than my original recent purchase intention. Well, whenever I buy no new, so it could also be a bit more expensive. After I have now played around three days the Wave a conclusion:
- The Wave has a great touch screen, its color brilliance and contrast have pleasantly surprised me. Although the touch function is somewhat sensitive to handle and it takes a little practice to write it, but especially in landscape mode also chunky fingers get away with it rightly. The Wave will automatically go into a lock mode as soon as one does not use it for a while and only by pressing the unlock button and sweep the display it will be activated again. An involuntary calls by moving in the pocket, making it almost impossible. Aimed one still a PhoneLock, where you has yet to enter a code to cancel the display before you can use it, is an independently make the Wave impossible.
- Operation of the wave is relatively intuitive. Although Apple has since slightly ahead, because you somehow understand immediately how everything goes, but Samsung does his job very well and after a short operation goes by itself. The manual I needed anyway hard to take advice. On any number of Idel-pages you put on its apps such as calendars, contacts, weather status, Navi ETC, between which you can switch using a simple finger swipe. Other features such as internet, radio, calculator, system etz. achieved by pressing the center button. All very easy and convenient. This one, however, can not completely remove unwanted widgets is a bit disturbing. Although you can move it back to the last page, but complete removal does not replace it. - The camera of the Wave provides for, compared to a digital camera, small lens crisp images that you can use return mail for other functions of the Wave. Eben's girlfriend, the friend snapped and you have a current picture of the contact list. When cycling found a nice view? Hey presto you have it as a new wallpaper in Idel-mode of the Waves. Movies I have not done, so I can say nothing. Only so much; My IXUS digital camera will not replace the Wave, but for a snapshot here and there if you just have not at hand the camera, it was good enough.
- Internet on the Wave I use Wi-Fi. Its establishment was super easy via the connectivity menu of Waves. The compound is stable and all the pages are built quickly. Even normal web pages can be easily visit because you can zoom in the cut through the zoom function of interest and a tap is enough on a link to view the next page. Retrieving e-mail works perfectly. All in all, the Wave is a visually very beautiful mobile phone, the greater comes true as my old, but looks much more elegant and has recently advanced. My buddy has an iPhone G3 and is mighty proud. Well he should. Mir is the apple goods too expensive and the Wave is the iPhone in the features I really use in every way. From me there is therefore a full purchase recommendation to all those looking for a cheaper alternative to iPhone.

I have now installed gravel. One thing first. You have all the widgets in the Task Manager close (center button and hold, all close except homescreen), otherwise do not want to gravel not play with the Wave and the Wave with gravel.
Ok. As with some recent prior to a firmware update was provided first. However, this failed due to a missing DLL that did not exist even after re-installation of gravel. The Wave has been hanging by's failed to update and only a hard reset could revive. Luckily the wave, nothing happened. The original firmware is intact. Everything works as before. A new attempt I refrain for the time being, because the Wave 300 EUR was not cheap and I feel to make my phone useless no desire, because gravel is not working properly.
However, add your own music, ringtones and pictures is not a problem. Simply connect the Wave as a mass storage, then it behaves like any USB stick. Create, sort folders, group, manage ETZ. no problem. With the gravel own tools ... well, let's put it that way. I have an image editing program and also an MP3 cutting tool, with both I know myself very well, ergo I need something simple for gravel so not. The rest like Media Player and Co has always on your own PC. Silly Gimmicks the gravel does not need. For but a firmware update from day one without problems should about be feasible. What I did not come in the head. Why can we not do the firmware update via Wi-Fi on the Wave itself?
Oh a warning yet to all users of a prepaid card. If you download the AccuWeather weather tool, call if they have Wi-Fi connection, this ONLY. Because the retrieval, or simple change to the Idle page leads to an update of the weather information and can pay itself AccuWeather for UMTS data retrieval on otherwise expensive!

Now I own the Wave already over a week and the positive impression of the device has not changed. Everything written above entsprich my experiences. This also applies to the point where I said, all the widgets must be closed to work with gravel. Only after I had done this gravel has recognized the Wave because previously gravel, the phone has simply not found. A firmware update I have not still made, because something has to work with gravel without me manually .dlls must embed in the system. However, since the original firmware is stable and without hesitation, I see at present no reason for an update.
An addendum I still have the "extra costs" make that may arise according to the manual "may" by Wave Widgets. As I mentioned above, I use a prepaied card because I just do not often on the phone with the mobile phone and remain my SMS within manageable limits.
The Wave own widget "Daily Briefing", from which, among others, the option for the AccuWeather AccuWeather widget was removed, is such a cost unit. For the "Daily Briefing" consists of four online data components which have been factory set to a 3 hour refresh. Not located in this refresh in wireless Reich Next, or want to save battery life and turns off the Wi-Fi, this refresh via the UMTS data connection and thus causing additional costs. Mir is this circumstance noticed only after 3 days when I checked my credit prepaied and this had reduced by just over 7 EUR, although I wrote since a few SMS, and had made no further call! Looking for the cost drivers I came across the "Daily brifing" widget of the Wave.
Allen prepaied customers is therefore to advise all widgets to investigate on Auto Refresh and to provide these to "No", otherwise there is a risk at the end of the month may no credit on his prepaid account to have.
