Wolfgang Haffner could be the German Dave Weckl. Only one thing he differs mightily from his American colleagues: He plays sparingly, song oriented and compressed. A straight groove, here and there a few Tomfills and a few cymbals. The rest concerned his wonderful band, such as Tony Lakatos on Sax. The pieces are afloat, the drums mingles beautifully understated, but with pressure in the sound picture and you get the impression that concert ripples as pleasant to himself that one often highly looks scared and surprised that the next song is already running. A furious drum solo "Drummer's Delight" in which Wolfgang shows his skills, and a lot of really interesting songs with superb vocal work from Eddie Green. Great! Wolfgang Haffner is one of the most most outstanding German drummer, his band on the very same level and the present CD leaves no doubt.
