On March 17, would be the great Nat King Cole, who died in 1965, 90 years. A good time for this truly successful and timely tribute. In "Re: Generations" artists of different stylistic persuasions songs of the legendary crooners have reworked using the original soundtracks. The opener "Lush Life" by Gnarls Barkley singer Cee-Lo is a FunkHop-blast, reminiscent of the style of Madcon. We continue with a sympathetic swinging duet by Natalie Cole with her Dad, directed by will.i.am (Black Eyes Peas). Bebel Gilberto (daughter of bossa nova legend Joao Gilberto) sets a dreamy "Brazilian Love Song" back and the Bob Marley sons Stephen and Damien a "Calypso Blues" in reggae robe. Quite big and groovy is also the NuLatin lounge-Beat-Tune "More & More Of Your Amour" by Bitter: Sweet. What this rework disc represents a positive light in total so, on the one hand is the seriousness with which the artists have made to their work, there was not gehudelt, and secondly, the stylistic variety. Cool, grooving plate!
