Red Carpet Massacre (Audio CD)

Customer Review

It is finally here, the new album by Duran Duran! Much has been written in advance about the collaboration with Timberland, Timberlake and Nate Hills. For my taste, unfortunately, too much because Duran Duran are not as helpless as they are marketed by its own record label. The band wrote extraordinary songs since 1980. In Germany largely ignored, they still fill in an English speaking country halls with 20,000 spectators and more.

But unfortunately they have failed since 1988 to commit to a style at least within an album. Because the band members have different preferences and the operation is very democratic, her repertoire includes a variety of music genres such as disco, electro, funk, pop, punk, rock and even rap. This can sometimes confuse the audience. The typical Duran Duran sound so there is not. To remain always keen on the pulse of time, they were also very keen to experiment and always have been the mid-80 can be produced from the hottest producers like Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. So it's actually not at all unusual that you now change one more time her style and collaborating with the most 'creators'.

However, there are some indestructible sound characteristics that have maintained over the years and which make up the charm of this band for a real fan: the extraordinary John Taylor basslines, Simon Le Bon's unmistakable vocals and Nick Rhodes atmospheric keyboard sound. All three things are present on the new album. Who beyond a joyful pop Geseusel expected has the wrong idea about this band.

DURAN DURAN's RED CARPET MASSACRE

The band is with this album finally a big hit. Every song on Red Carpet Massacre has in his own way class! Please Listen to it loud through headphones on! This album is Power!

THE VALLEY: The song is dominated by a very unusual rhythm, the first somewhat spartan comes along and raises the question whether you really have inserted the correct disc. The answer is 'and if!' As soon spreads Simon Le Bon's unmistakable nasal voice on this framework. Among slowly increases a dense carpet of retort bass and guitar loops until the song finally ends in a killer chorus. Yes, there are Duran Duran, and in a pretty cool Constitution. An up-tempo song with a very catchy melody and a chorus that suggests you yourself would just fly on the back of a fiery broom through 'the valley' - 'until the move is captured at any intersection of John Taylor's bass and in a remake High Noon is kidnapped.

RED CARPET MASSACRE: The intro is still a lovely sound game, but then mutated the song in by far the darkest song on the album. A crude drum sound cuts ceaselessly into space, while Simon Le Bon caricatured the happenings on the red carpets of the world with Kreischberg factor 10. Applying lipstick for dying in public ...

NIGHT RUNNER: This is the number with the maximum chromium content. If Duran Duran have received by working with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Nate Hills, the Hip Hop-treatment, it is most clearly heard on this track. A cool, very sober dance number with killer groove and a chorus that deep burrows into your subconscious mind, reinforced by Timberlands lowered speech passages which form the perfect counterbalance to the 'softer' falsetto chants of Le Bon & Timberlake , 'Ride into your nighttime world ... The perfect soundtrack to cruise through the night.

FALLING DOWN: This is the already released single, who wrote with Justin Timberlake Duran Duran. Just a pity that Duran Duran Justin Timberlake had not used for this song. Catchy melodies are arranged with great care detail a classic Duran Duran trademark. They can easily, with or without help. With the exception of the bad video, so it's quite a nice number. I would not necessarily made the first single 'there are better songs on the album, but Sony / BMG will have something thought clever there. The lyrics are about people who are losing the ground under their feet and portrays the thoughts that Simon Le Bon had when he once made the involuntary departure of his motorcycle.

BOX FULL O'Honey: Thus it is clear the same: everything is perfect TO THIS SONG. The beautiful melody, the embarrassingly intimate text that very harmonious orchestration with acoustic bass and guitar, piano and drums and the crystal-clear vocal performance by Simon Le Bon. MR. LE BON Namely against all the prophecies of doom WONDERFUL SINGING. Better it hardly goes. The text is by the way a love letter to his wife Yasmin and thus a hymn to their 'lifelong love affair' (quote Mr. Le Bon).

SKIN DIVERS: This is by far the coolest track on the album. Who sticks here motionless in his chair, is long dead. One of Timberland produced mid-tempo dance track, which is supported by a strong bassline and continue gaining momentum by Timberlands hands-deposits. Personally, I am convinced that Simon Le Bon's voice on the most extraordinary in the lower registers sounds' and there are in this song three whole verses heard. A title that no longer goes out so fast out of your head, if he is once dipped into it.

TEMPTED: Who misses this song typical John Taylor-bass sound, has a good ear. Here is actually not heard. But that does not matter because the master is next to Nick Rhodes on keyboards and provides here for the techno-like BackTrack. That comes across very horny LIVE. This song is a strong electro-pop number that emphasized by a very catchy melody and days digging in your thoughts. I love this number!

Tricked Out: Finally a instrumental piece on a Duran album. Here Duran Duran perform their punk roots. However, since they are the masters of the cross-over, they mix the whole thing with a neat shot time machines sound and spirit Erlich sounding harpsichord chords. Here's how it sounds then: The Future meets PUNK meets ROCCOCO.

ZOOM IN: It continues with an incredibly dynamic electro-pop number that is Second Life. The text I'm zooming in and out on you but 'could also go very well with any Duran Duran concert, because this usually hold hundreds of lenses from the audience minutely determine what happens on stage.

SHE'S TOO MUCH: similarly strong as Box Full O'Honey. A very soulful, melodic song where Simon Le Bon on his daughter Saffron, which is a little troublemaker, philosophizes.

DIRTY GREAT MONSTER: Here Duran Duran goes something from the electro-pop of breath. You make a short trip to the Blues Rock. But that's not so bad. It fits nicely at this point and the strong melody fits seamlessly into the series of brilliant songs, which has to offer this album. At the end there's a saxophone solo. Knew it was coming.

Last Man Standing: Finally, we once again heard a very melodic electro-pop ballad. Funnily enough, this is the only song in which it is a classic Duran Duran song, no doubt.
